hi, i'll try to make this brief, I've been going on interviews since January and although I've gotten great feedback and some close calls, I've not gotten an offer yet (4 rejections so far) and days and days wasted of going to agencies when they forget u the next week. I feel bummed b/c we REALLY need the money! I have a great resume for a secretary and I keep remembering that not too long ago I used to get 2 job offers at once and I try to talk myself up b/c I'm feeling sooooooo down with this financial pressure I feel like I'm gonna crack! Any words of encouragement would be helpful b/c I feel like I'm letting my kids down. I stopped working in July of 2006 to take care of a newborn. This time the job search is taking sooooo long when it used to be so quick and easy for me. I'm also willing to temp but still haven't heard from agencies on that yet.

My sister works in a small but very busy office. She used to love her job, bosses and coworkers until recently. She has been there for about 12 years. Another coworker was diagnosed with MS. That is very unfortunate however, this person is still coming into work but not performing the job as well. This woman is out sick a lot and even when she does come to work, she is very late (like noon time). The burden of the work is put on the other workers, which they don't mind doing but now they are all getting stressed out, overtired and run down. The bosses said they don't have the $$ in the budget to hire another person to help out so they would just have to deal with it. My sister comes home and cries every night from stress. She (and the others) feel bad for the woman with MS but they all feel they are at a dead end. They don't want to quit their jobs because it is a good company to work for. Can anyone offer any advice?

Asking a few today but this one affects me personally.

I am in a job that I dislike but have been offered another better one, the only complication is that I have to start it quite quickly.

Is it legal to just walk out, like being fired but you are firing the employer :-)

I know it's down to contracts etc, but what if you really can't stand to stay another moment.

... For a job interview presentation I would like to use something as an ice breaker. On hard work, or competition etc.

Has anyone got any ideas or anywhere on the net I could look? Interview tomorrow.

I work in a great office, we all work so well together. I have a commute for 1.5 hours -2.5 hours a day, each way. I work for a large financial firm with positions close to my homw. This office was good for a start and now that I have proven my capabilities, I want to move closer to home. How do I ask my manager to approve a transfer request?

I had a first interview at Hooters yesterday in Kennesaw GA... This is one of the top grossing Hooters in GA, right down the street from the Hooters of America Corporate Office and they are serious here. I wanted to say that from the get-go b/c everyone assumes working at Hooters takes nothing but I need the good tips while in school, BUT ANYWAYS back to the question. He said when I came in for my second interview with the GM I had to sell myself. How do you sell yourself well to a potential boss? I don't want to get nervous and sound like a peice of chewing gum (i.e. dependable) I need to know what a boss wants to hear when he asks someone to do this. I need to be creative, I have to "stand out" :-) Thanks for any positive input!

I myself, like to cut off the extra plastic from the bread and bagel bags....they take up too much room in my kitchen! I also like to keep my pantry in proper order, my plates in order in my cabinets...ok, that's it... The end! Fare-the-well!

I used to use a bunch of illicit drugs, but now I just 420 and pop the occaisional OTC diet pill. I'm currently changing my whole life around to study pharmacology. This is a doctorate degree and could provide a lucrative career for a long time if I'm able to get through the tough classes.

Do you think that with a history of addiction like mine I should look for a different field of medicine where I'll be less likely to abuse my privileiges?

I really have no desire to "screw up" or keep myself "medicated". I honestly just think I would make a great pharmacist. It was my mom who mentioned it like "are you sure thats a good idea for someone who had a little trouble in the past?"

I don't want to let my past prevent my future, hiding for something because I'm not allowed and I'm untrustworthy.

She has accused me of being anorexic/bulimic, just because I'm slim. She 'tells me off' in front of others when I make mistakes and all I do is try and be the best I can. I'm even trying to look out for a better job for her in newspapers - as she want to progress. I'm sick of trying to be nice with her. Am I being too nice?
