It's more the concept than the actual fee that matters. They figure, if they charge you for forgetting your card, you are less likely to forget it again. If you have a locker at work, just keep your card there, and you won't have to worry about forgetting it. If not, find a place where you'll be sure to grab it on the way out to work. Maybe near your keys?

They can, and will, charge you a fee for forgetting to clock in. How do they know you didn't come in later than you said, and are saying earlier to get more money for more hours? It has happened, and you just need to remember to clock in every time.

You already forgot your card and looked bad doing so. Complaining will make you worse. I worked for s BIG financial company that if your forgot your ID card for a third time in one year, they would not allow you in and you had to either go home and get it (we worked in NYC and everyone had a long commute) or just go home and take a vacation day.

Is there a union? Is this statement listed in the material that you received during orientation? Is it listed in the employee handbook?

If you have not seen this in writing you may be able to dispute this.

ha ha......don't worry .....you'll be motivated to staple that wunnerful card to your shirt or go to Walmart and buy one of those id tag chains. Hang it by your clothes you wear to work so you can't forget it.
