You are entitled to statutory sick pay, but this all depends on your contract, how long you've been working with your company etc. You would have to speak to your HR Manager, or see the ACAS website. If your doctor signed you off, you wouldn't be able to work anyway - even if you didn't get sick pay, as you wouldn't be covered by your company's insurance - i don't think.

It will depend heavily on what type of contract you hold with the firm. It also depends on what country you are in (as you didn't specify, I'll assume you're in the US, which seems to have some of the worst employment benefits in the 1st world).

But if you are a full-time employee, as opposed to casual or part-time staff, then I would say yes, your are entitled to full pay. Also, as you had the accident at work, you are very likely entitled to some form of workers' compensation, perhaps above and beyond your standard pay. I'm not recommending you try to get any extra, but it may be possible.

All this information should be present in you intitial employment contract or by contacting your firm's HR department. If your company doesn't have an HR dept, consult the government body that looks after employment in your area and country. They should have a website accessible through the main government website.

You are entitled to Workers Compensation. In most states, you must be off work for 3 days to collect pay. If the doctor gives you 5 days off, you'll get about 80% of your regular pay for everyday including the first 3 days you missed. If the doctor says he is releasing you to work on the 1st,2nd, or 3rd day, your screwed. Some jobs will let you take your sick leave if your injury does not require a full 3 days off. The key here, is to get the doctor to say you can't go back to work any sooner than the 4th day after the injury. If you don't have sick leave...forget it, the boss wins.

Yes very much so and if the company does not support you in that, you could always have a word with some of the accident lawyers out there and just the threat of litigation is enough to set the company back on the road.
Did you also report the accident to your Health and Safety Rep? Or place the accident in your accident files?

It completely depends on your contact. You will be entitled to sick pay, but only your work can say if you get full pay. It may be connected to your length of employment - at our company, you are not entitled to full pay in your first year, one week in your second year, ramping up over the years to a max of 12 weeks.

Your employer will have to determine what pay you are entitled to. The report of the doctor not enough. Are you the cause of the accident? Are you liable for the incident? What is in your condition of service?

No your entitled to sick pay only and some employers do not pay you for the first 3 days of your sickness so then all you get are the remaining days of the week on sick pay

If you get in contact with social services and get it catagorised as an industrial injury then if you are off for longer than a week or have any long standing problems then you will be entitled to more sick pay and benefits... for example in the nhs you will earn 85% of your wage minimum for any amount of time off sick after your sick pay runs out.

Check with your entitlement from your contract with your company. Or check with the existing labor law in your country.

Usually staff is entitled for a 15 day sick leave with pay per year.

No, partner had accident at work 6 weeks ago never got paid - only sick pay, he put in insurance claim had to go back to work after 3 weeks as he had no money after a week at work he was suspended for no reason?
