If a company wants to play music/radio whilst customers are on hold, does it need to pay a license or public broadcasting fees or something like that? Where can I find information about all this? Thanks a lot!

i graduated last year with a business degree and plans on getting my mba later on in the future. I want a career in management. Now days employers want 3-5 years of experience. Should i look for an entry level management job and work there for like 3 years till i find a better job or should i accept the job by state farm as a producer agent. State Farm offer me a better pay than most entry-level job.

It occurs to me that industry in the UK is becoming obsessed with training staff. Although this sounds like a good thing, I think people's valuable experience is being overlooked in favour of what some upstart at head office thinks would be a good thing to have their staff do. They seem to be very fond of training up graduates for management positions when promoting a long standing member of staff would seem more sensible, for how can a graduate with no experience in an industry know more than some person who's worked in it for years? I'm a university student myself, so it's not like I'm just bitter, I just think it's wrong, unfair and just plain old bad for business. What do other people think?

I work any 5 days over 7, and my holiday entitlement is the standard 4 weeks. I recently took a fortnights holiday, I worked the Monday, and went on Tuesday. My flight got back at about 4 am on Wednesday morning but work expected me in at 2pm on the Wed for work, ten hours after I got off the plane, and to work 5 days wed - sun. My boss says mon and tue are my two days off. I'm arguing this is wrong, monday and tuesday are paid holidays and i should have days off on top of them. If mon and tues are my days off and i work the other five that would seem to imply my holiday leave ended on sunday. If it were a mon-fri job and i left on a friday i'd have the weekend off when i returned, i don't think what they are doing is fair. Anyway i've refused to go in, any thoughts? Sorry for the confusing scenario!

Hi,

I need to book a date off for my wifes birthday, my boss has said I can't have it as it only leaves one man in the office.

Are they legally entitled to do this?

Thanks in advance.

girls don't want you to succeed. Set you up with false info so you would make mistakes. Turn things around to boss to make you seem mean, stuck up, make careless mistakes, make things up. Even worse tell other co-workers things so they wont socialize with you. How do you deal with this when boss blows you off.

Every single waking day, my parents tell me to go get a job. I would get a job if they would get off my back and stop telling me to go get one! I stay up late on the computer, and by the time I go to sleep, my dad is getting up for work. He just shakes his head at me and tells me to go to sleep.

Why am I doing this to myself? I need money so bad, but just can't seem to get out there and look for a job. I'm being so stubborn and spiteful to my parents, and I shouldn't be. Any tips on WHY I should get a job, and how I can get a job?

I'm usually a bartender...but the job I was working at was 90 minutes away so I quit.

I'm awake until 5:00 in the morning, sometimes later, and then I sleep all day! And do nothing all day long. I have a boyfriend and he keeps me busy sometimes, and I have no friends where I live. I need a job desperately for social and money reasons! But WHY can't I go find one?!

Help! lol. I'm addicted to this stupid website too.
