Anyone can ask anything they want.

Whether you want to answer them (truthfully) is another matter altogether.

Yes they can ask for your DOB and Marital status, not sure why they would need to as its normally on your CV.

It is NOT against the law to be asked your age, as some jobs canonly be done legally by people of a certain age, bar work (serving) you have to be 18.

I would question the rationale behind the "Do you own property" It has no relevance to any Job, if they are conducting a survery through recruitment (which I doubt) then they need to ask you if you are willing to take part.

I may be wrong, but I thought with the change in employment law in October last year, that DOB was now not a "legal" question. Isn't it all to do with age discrimination?
I know where I work, we have removed the DOB section from our application forms and all references to "young" "mature" etc., etc., etc.
Regarding marital status - I don't think that should impact on your job application at all. And whether or not you own your property - what's that got to do with anyone but you and your mortgage company?
Seems odd to me...

It is perfectly LEGAL for employment agencies to ask your DOB AND marital status.

Some people LOOK younger than their real age, and are very OFFEND if you get their title wrong. So I've been told I look a LOT younger than my 33 years (an external course trainer thought this was my first job/was fresh out of school - when infact I have notched up nearly 15 years working experience and am on my 6th job), and I am VERY upset and offended when people call me Ms or Mrs, and get really annoyed when I correct them and they STILL kepp giving me the wrong title.

Recruitment agencies will ask for DOB AND marital status but they don't normally ask you whether you own your own property.

They can ask but if you feel its not relevant you dont have to answer. I worked in recuitment for 10 year sand DOB was a standard as it helps to identify candidates but owning your own home seems bizarre to me umless its a national agency undertaking some kind of research.

They can ask for your inside leg measurement if it's relevant. I'm going through a vetting process for a particular job and you wouldn't believe what kinds of personal information and documentation I'm being asked for.

Of course they can ask, and of course you don't have to tell them, and of course they can fail to find you a job because you didn't give them enough information.

It isn't a question about law, it is a question of whether you want to find a job or not.

Of course they can. Once you are in boot camp, the real question you will ask yourself over and over is WHY did you let them onto your property...
