I have a friend that I work with, male in his 40's, who is trying to decide whether he should change jobs or not. He has been here for over 20 years. I have been here for 11 and from the day that I started I have heard the rumors that the plant would not be open in 5 years. I guess everyone fears their place of employment shutting down. Anyhow, he wants to be a state trooper but can't decide if he should or not. Any advice for him would be greatly appreciated.

Tell him to talk to someone in the State trooper's recruitment office. They'll be able to tell him if there are age/physical requirements.

I think it's great Jamie! My major is Criminal Justice too! Great field to get into! There are so many opportunities this field has to offer. Go to a community college web-site and find out more. I know there is an age cut off point for the troopers...but the field is loaded with other officer positions.

If he is qualified or willing to seek out the training/education needed, I say go for it! It's easy to get into a rut in the workplace. People should be happy with their jobs.

Tell him to go for it, or else he should stop hemming and hawing about it!
