Today a co-worker told me that her mother had to be admitted to the hospital this morning or late last night. I don't know the exact situation but all i know is that things were serious enough that her mother had to have a tube put down her throat. She is still alive and well but as far as her current condition is uncertain. This co-worker wanted to take today off but our manager wouldn't allow it. We work at a local grocery store. I would imagine that she would have every right to leave work under the FMLA. I also noticed that in the area where the normal posters and notifications would be for employees their was no documentation for the FMLA which is required by law. I wanted to know how many laws are being broken if any in this situation.

When I got my first one it was £15,000, but I've heard that this has been lowered as they were worried too many students would never pay it back. I paid back my original loan, but have a post grad one from last year, and am finallyabout to start a new permanant job- will I have to pay it back?

Hi, im going to uni in a year and a half, and my teachers keep on going on about it all the time! anyway i ve taken sometime to look at what i want to do. i would like to do a buisness course or maybe history, to do a job in finance such as a stock broker or maybe a journalist if i take history. Anyway, im not the most confident of people, and i would like to overcome that by having some work experience or taking a course in buisness skills. Firstly, does anyone know, like a summer course, that someone does, where you can learn buisness skills and communication etc, because you dont really learn these skills at college. Also does anyone know any good companies in norwich area, that would be good for work experience in the field? One final thing, is anyone whose taken any buisness course at university, what are they like? and which one would be good to take? Thanks

My mother is 36 years old and has been offered a job to babysit a 2 year old 6 hours per day weekly. She is wondering how much she should charge/how much she should get paid per week? Please give us some ideas on how much she should be paid.

I have an interview with a hip, interactive ad agency. I'm applying as a writer. How dressed up should I get for the interview? Suit and tie? Suit but no tie? I know the ad agency culture is different than the "corporate" culture, and I want to make sure that I'm dressed right. I'm being recommended for firing due to inappropriate behavior. Either way I would need to explain why I left to my next potential employer. But if I quit---no way on unemployment money. I may still not if I'm fired for gross misconduct, which is broadly interpreted. It would be nice to leave on my own terms than be humiliated again. Where I work, there is a controversy going concerning a child. She said some very inappropriate things to another staff member -- in which I thought were way beyond her thought pattern as a 13 year old girl. (Keep in mind that this girl behaves badly in class too)

After reporting this and having a meeting with her Mother, the situation has gotten worst. Her mother doesn't seem to believe that her child would say such things. As a result, in order to please the Mom, the school officials are investigating whether or not the child was told to say these things by one of the staff members.

I tried to explain to the principle that I witnessed everything and that the child said inappropriate things under who own free will, but the Prinicple believes still wants to do more investigating.

I have a feeling that a situation that could have bee resolved by a suitable punishment will turn into a huge ordeal because the principle doesn't want to deal with it.
