drinking at work help?

i manage a small company and one of my employees always smells of alchohal. i asked her and she said she doesnt drink. but she has apered drunk 3 times now. were can i get breathalizer strips to test her?????????

You need to be VERY careful with this topic. A number of things can make someone appear inebriated (diabetes, prescription meds, etc.) Some of those conditions are protected under Federal laws such as the ADA.

Your best bet is to publish a policy that indicates how your business will deal with suspected drug or alcohol abuse. If you plan to test employees, this should be included in your policy. All of your employees should sign a statement that indicates they have received a copy of the policy. Many urgent care centers or doctor's offices will perform drug tests for a fee.

Self-administering any sort of drug/alcohol test is a bad idea and will open you up to legal challenges on inadmissibility of evidence, testing conditions, chain of custody, etc.

She might have diabetes. The smell of alcohol on the breath is a sign. Of course that is if they aren't drinking.
