First, what can be expected:
Most sites pay $1-5 per survey, occassionally $10-15. I usually qualify for enough surveys to make around $20 a month off of it (I could qualify for more if I used Internet Explorer, not Mozilla, since some surveys don't work with Mozilla). I've calculated it out and for the time I spend on it I make just about $5 per hour. (That's just counting the surveys I take...not the money I make referring others to the programs). I usually make about $20 a month--I don't qualify for enough surveys to make more than that (and some don't work on my browser).

I've listed and reviewed most of the sites I have taken surveys through and actually been paid (or received other rewards like gift cards or CD'S) on the following webpage.

But watch out--there are also scams out there. Here are some tips to avoid them:

Don't sign up for any survey site which asks you to pay to access the surveys. Also watch for language like "get paid for taking surveys AND SIGNING UP FOR OFFERS" if you don't want to have to sign up for stuff with other companies to get paid.

Always carefully read their terms of service and privacy policy. If in their privacy policy they say they only use aggregated info, this is GOOD SIGN they are legit. Aggregated info information that is grouped together so it can't be connected with anyones personal identification like name, e-mail, phone or address. That's what survey sites SHOULD collect. Avoid sites that say they give, rent, or sell any personal information (info that is not aggregated) to third parties (unless you really don't mind getting junk mail, telemarketing calls, and spam).

Also, never sign up for a survey through an unsolicited e-mail--since these might not even be from the site they claim to be, but could be a phishing scheme to get your information and mis-use it. And never give your credit card info--there is no good reason a legitimate free site would need it.

Here are two other sites which are very helpful

You should join the two sites that I have listed on my Yahoo 360 page to make money online. There are no upfront costs, and the sites are legit. I have received many checks from them before. You earn money by completing surveys, and trying free trials, suck as Netflix. Get a few friends to sign up as you referrals and you can earn even more, plus a $1 bonus on one of the sites. I've made as much as $75 a day! If you’re not sure about joining, here is some proof of members' earnings: http://forum.treasuretrooper.com/index.php?showtopic=17509&st=580 Try it out!

Paid survey sites are a waste of time. You can make a living online, but 'paid survey' sites are not the way to do so. You'd make less than minimum wage. If you wanted to make a living online, you'd need to create new content regularly and monetize it.

Try SurveySavvy , it's free to sign up and you get paid to take surveys. I'm a member and it offers you a great opportunity to make a difference and earn money at the same time by taking research surveys online ~ I made $20.00 on my first survey and you also get paid for any survey your referrals take (the more REFERRALS you get, the more money it's possible to make!!!) P.S. They are a member of the Better Business Bureau!!

Today I have came across a new blog (on my football teams forum of all places lol) dedicated to survey sites. It's Australian, but the author will also offer advice on survey sites around the world apparently.

The reviews were really detailed so I decided to bookmark it. It's free so it won't hurt to get the advice!

How much money you make with surveys depends on your personal situation. I am a single woman with no children and I have not made any money with surveys. My sister is married with 2 children and she has made some money and she is on fewer survey lists than I am. But she has not made enough money to make a living at it. I don't know of anyone who has made a living at it. If you want to make money from home, I recommend you not look online for a business. I know of a good source book that lists legitimate businesses. I recognise the names of some of the businesses they list and already knew their good reputations. Or you could create something of your own or provide a service of your own (like dog walking or something).
