I'm looking for a new job, as my job at moment is a small family run business (only 10 empolyees) and am not happy working here. I haven't got enough work to fill my day so it goes sooooooo slow & nowhere for me to progress too, as jobs filled already by family who are not gonna leave ever!!
Should I tell my boss I am looking & have an interview on friday? or just take the afternoon off as a doctors appiontment?

Also I have never had a contract (no pay slips either) so do I still have to give a months notice (like previous jobs) or if the company I go to wants me in a week can I do that?

How do I go about handing in my notice? Should I write a letter?

Please help! Thanks xx

Alright, I have an IDEA for a new film-making company that would target a whole new audience. I want to pitch this to a motion picture studio, like 20th Century Fox, and get them to hire me on. This is what I want:

(within a budget)
Creative control - casting control - final cut -
-Also, starting salary & percentage of gross (but I need a general idea of how much to ask for)

What I would be doing (in general) is coordination of all the elements - hiring all the staff necessary to put the project together, choosing the projects (with studio oversight, I am sure), basically running the company within Fox, with a budget provided by Fox.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to set it up so I can make a good first impression? I really would like to get out of my current job, and would really love to work with children.

I had to take the day off on Monday to register my son for school. The following day I came in to work and my boss said that those things have to be done on my own time. I work form 9-6pm. They do not offer, time off and sick days. I know that many place do offer this is this against the law? Where on the Dept. of Labor website can I print info about about this kind of employee rights to time off? I mean I do have a life that I need to attend to.
