Hi, I'm in HR and no it won't. Resume writers are a rip off. Everyone can write their own resume and only you know all the things you really did and how to explain them. You can find a good basic format anywhere, on monster, on hotjobs. If a writer exaggerates or changes some wording or whatever they do, you won't be able to talk around anything you don't understand on your own resume. Plus, believe me a resume is not a pitch for a movie script that has to be perfect and full of just the right buzz words. It has to tell us what you did and where. Writing a great cover letter and applying to jobs that are appropriate for your skill set is your best chance at landing a good interview.

Yes, it will. Many times it makes the difference whether you are even called for an interview.
