First, as soon as you realized you didn't have the info you needed to finish the report on time, you should have informed your boss. (Remember this for the future.)

All you can do is say what it is you're missing. If you know when you're going to get it, tell the boss when you WILL be able to give him the report.

The boss will have to put pressure on whoever to get you the needed info.

If you had done this earlier, you might have made your deadline, or at least, your boss would have moved the deadline.

Any time something is preventing you from getting your work done, let the boss know. Even if the boss can't fix it, at least they know what's going on, and won't blame you.

Help your colleague finish the work. Your boss knows what is going on I would think.
This is a team environment. I am sure your boss wants teamwork. Show your boss you are a team player instead of a individual. See how this way pans out for you.

You do it quickly!! Let him know about the delays, what you are doing to ensure completion, and the new projected due date.

You are probably not the only piece of the puzzle, and he will need to make corrections on the other parts of the project as well.

Don't wait!!!
