I am currently majoring in accounting, which I love! I also enjoy economics, is it possible to get a degree in both and is it beneficial?

What is the recommended career path to become an accountant?

How do I get employees to drop the mentalities and functioning they learned at a previous job? I don't want to insult them or their perspective on how things should be done. But how do I get the message across that we do things differently? (Ex. when an employee takes unpaid time off we don't ask what they were doing or where they were, but a previous employer of a couple of my employees demanded a reason)

I work in higher education. My last position was with a smaller university where I was used to face to face, one-on-one interaction. At this much, MUCH larger institution, things are less personable and it's harder to get things done. Plus, the committment to students is not there like I was told during the interview. As I've said, it's only been two months but smaller is seeming to be alot better than this. I am very good at what I do, I realize that smaller institutions would far more appreciate what I have to offer. Am I crazy? Is this stupid? I understand that two months is not a lot of time but how long do I have to wait it out if I'm not happy? Thank your time & wisdom shared. Nikky!

I'm a bit nervous because it's hard to talk without any visual cue of the interviewer.
I can't come off as being too friendly or too impersonal.

Has anyone been through a successful phone interview, and what are some of the most common questions that they ask? Any tips?
(This job is for a genomics institute of a research foundation, and it's an entry-level engineering job.)

About three months ago, i had a conflict with my boss over something so petty. This is something that had been happening for a while during the time my Center Manager took over. I never started having any kind of problems at work until he assumed the position of Center Manager. One day, i got called in and was sitting across from my Center Manager and HIS boss! He then began to throw a lot of things in my face and bring up things that happened months ago. It got so bad that i ended up getting fired. Now, the question i want to ask is is: When applying for a job with another company, is it a good idea to put my last employer on my resume despite all the conflict i had with my manager. I know when other companies want more info on who they wanna hire or interview or whose resume to keep on file, they sometimes go to the last employer of an individual to determine this. If i put my last employer on my resume, am i doing the right thing in spite of?

Okay, today I was promoted. SUPER excited! The only thing was the salary is being negotiated, so I don't know how much of an increase I will recieve. What is the average promotion??? It's not just a typical raise.... I will be currently doing what I do, but they have added a supervisor position to my job. (So my title changed). I am currently making around 37k.... What should I expect as an increase???

(I work for my local gov't...so I know it won't be much!!!) LOL
