This is why blood is NOT thicker than water, and why you should never hire friends - they tend not to stay friends. When the boss lady tries to wedge in on a sale, think of a fast redirect to something that needs management attending to. So-n-so needs a call back right away, Could you go check on such-n-such for me? and quickly close the sale and file your receipts - but she may want to keep the idea of looking for another sales position in mind if this person is her supervisor.

Maybe if your mom sits the lady down and asks her to let her handle the sales on her own. Try to redirect the boss's attention to other sales staff that may need her help and not your mom. Let the boss know "thank you but I'd like to do this on my own."
