civil (very broad, could do nearly anything), geotechnical (road construction, building construction, etc), or environmental (wastewater, air quality, etc.) engineering would probably be the easiest to find a job in. pay will probably start around 40-45K in US for unlicensed, fresh out of college.

Ask engineers about their work, their income, the likes and deslikes. There are so many fields in engineering! Each one is a different profession. Maybe you should find an advisor before signing up with a school.

What do you like to do as a hobby? If you like cars, go for mechanical engineering, if you like computers you can do computer engineering, if you like gadgets like cell phones, go for electronics or electrical engineering.

If you like building big structures, go for civil engineering, and if you like the environment go for environmental engineering.
