College is expensive, what is a good way for a college student to make some extra money? I already work 45+ hours a week at a hotel, but I dont work weekends, what should I do?

2007-01-04 09:49:06 · 14 answers · asked by Anonymous

Where I work right now the maximum amount of hours you can work is 40 per week. They pay no overtime and will not pay for any hours over 40.
Anyway, occasionaly at the end of the day somthing will come up, and my boss will come up to me at the very end of the day and will tell me to do somthing (unload a truck, load somthing on to trucks ect. ) I do it, but it's starting to annoy me that he tells me to do these things and doesn't ask me to do it. He's not exactly the nicest person anyway, and part of me thinks that I should just say no and go home since I won't be getting paid for my extra 20 minutes worth of work. I think if he asked me to do it I would be a bit more happy to do it than him just ordering me to do this stuff. I've already done things like look at the clock right when he's telling me to do this stuff and he says things like "It's part of the job".
Does anyone think I should go to his boss or should i just grin and bear it?

I am a police officer currently testing for other departments. In police written tests there are different sections dealing with remembering details, basic math, english, writing, understanding and applying various passages of law to different situations etc.

In addition, there is often a section where they ask psychological questions:

ex=> "I would rather work outside than use a power tool"
ex=> "I prefer to be meticulous and avoid making mistakes, rather than act decisively"
etc.

Then you are asked to rate the statements with "I strongly agree", "I agree", "I can't decide", "I disagree", or "I strongly disagree"

You never see your score or how these are ranked. Where do these types or questions come from, and where can I find out more about them and how they are scored?

Personally, I think theyre BS. There is always a thorough background investigation, several interviews, polygraph, and afull blown psyche test before employment. Id go on, but Im out of spac

I'm a student and I thought it's be nice to try mystery shopping to get some extra money. But I'm not sure of it's success rate. I heard of a woman who gained 7 thousand a month in New York, but that was a rare case. What are people opinions of it?

people whom take care of the ederly. Most of the time if you was to a question about a pt care or feelings on the daily living the best answer would come from the cna beside the only time a rn or lpn is present is when the cna state a problem or when a pt request one but if they ring the bell and state the problem the lpn or rn will still seen the cna to try to aviod the walking that is part of the job and above all this, they even have the nerves to talk to the cna as if the are a nobody on do not matter . which i find very untrue. cna are the back bone of every nursing home, hospital, private care. I think that cna pay need to be raised! more props need to be giving or just let the lpn and rn fill in as a cna for one week and see how thier backs, and feets feel one a giving 40 hours.

I am interested in leaving the company I've been working at for two years. I love the industry and what I do, but I dislike my company. I am interested in applying to careers at rival and partner companies within the online retail industry, but it is a small crowd... most people know one another and a lot of people talk. How do I apply to another company without my current company finding out and firing me? Your tips are appreciated!

I'm having day surgery soon, will I have to book holiday for this or can I have it off sick? I have no idea how it works. Also I have a couple of outpatient appointments. I don't want my boss to think I have to much time off but at the same time I don't want to use all my holiday on hospital visits. Where do I stand ? I'm in a new job and haven't proved my reliability yet. Thanks x

As of now I work at Blockbuster but I'm only seasonal so after the 15th I have no job. I've worked at a restaurant for five years as a cook, waitress, baker and cashier. Then I worked at CVS for almost a year as a cashier, photo tech and pharmacy assistant. What things should I know or learn before applying for a clerical job, also any tips to get hired would be great. Is it also possible that I could get paid more than $6.50 an hour, I live in South Texas. Thanks in advance.

I was recently terminated from my position. Although the boss my not pleased with my over all performance,
I parted gracefully about two days ago. One of my friends, a professional told me that although I was there for 3 months on a parttime basis I should still seek a letter of reccomendation based upon the theory that although I was not a good fit for that particular company, I can still be marketed as a good fit for another company. My other friend, another professional and a manager at that , told me that I should let by-gones be by-gones based upon the theory that if someone puts the time and energy to get rid of someone then then why would they want to promote that person and make that person another person's headache. I kind of feel as though, I really do not have much to lose. Although I was only at this place for three months it was an advertising agency and the mere fact that I was able to get my foot in the door was a credit to me . Still a good person.

I just wanted to know. I work full time ... an 8 hour day. I wanted to know when I am officially supposed to take my lunch. I get here at 9 am and am off at 6pm. Sometimes I don't get to take my lunch till 2:30 or 3pm. That doesn't seem right ... does it?

My boss says go whenever ... but then when I am ready to go ... nobody is here or nobody can cover my position. So what's the deal?

Any ideas or suggestions would be great. Thanks.
