I am a student right now and I will be graduating in May this year, so I am in the midst of applying for my first job. A friend of mine suggested that I call the HR department of the placing I will be applying for and introduce myself and let them know that I will be sending in my resume. Is this a good idea? If so in my introduction, what all should I talk about?

I used to work as IT consultant dealing with software writing n prjt mgt in software firms. I was quite well paid during my employment for 5+ years in few firms. last 1 year, I quitted from my IT and try sales job which I fond of too at that moment. I went to join a MLM which engage with sales n building team of people (to fast retire if I make it to mgr). after 1 yr, i realised that it doesnt suit me and I quit.

I FACE a lot of issues when trying to get into the IT job market. some companies aren’t convinced that I want to get back to IT job after last sales job. And when asked what last drawn salary, I couldnt name it as in MLM business, one is building own business and dont earn very much.

These are e questions they asked in interviews
"What your last drawn salary ?", "why you want to get back to IT as you already went to sales"

My problems are :
- how do i get back to IT job, by convincing employers that I am resourceful?
- shld i write in resume my last job was MLM ?

I stumbled across them before. It says you get paid to take surveys online. Of course it gives you the shpeel about making thousands working at home. But I wonder if you can actually make a few bucks on the side. It seems like a scam since they want you to pay $35 right off the bat then you can "make money". Has anyone tried this and made money?

I'm thinking about getting a job, and I'd like to know how many hours in general are full time. And when I say in general I mean for most jobs.

I have a 3 month notice period in my NHS contract. I have been offered a new position abroad and want to only serve a months notice. Where do I stand legally? It is not a direct competitor, nothing sensitive so I do not think gardening leave is an issue - but what can the employer do to me and what are my rights as an employee. 3 Months (for a non specialist position - managerial) seems very unfair to me, trapping one in the position. I have worked here for four years and have an excellent relationship with my employer.

I am 16 years of age, and i have longed to get into business. I have explored many avenues, and have not yet found any that work because of my age.

People don't take me seriously because i am young, but i feel i am ready to take the leap innto business.

I am studying business, and i feel i can make a lot of profit.

In the future, i will strive my hardest to earn the largest capital that i can.

So i am asking, what jobs do you think could fulfill my dream.

Or what sort of business could i go into at such an early age?

Thanks for all answers!

Regards

I'm doing consulting for less money, but a lot happier. I help others get their businesses off the ground but can't seem to get the nerve to do it for myself. I relocate anywhere, I have a great work ethic, but suddenly can't decide where my passion is and where to put my efforts. Did I screw up?

I'm just curious. I used to work for an employer who paid us half a day's pay for every unused sick day we had remaining at the end of the calendar year. Where I work now, we get nothing. If you do get a reward, what type of place do you work (office, insurance company, etc.)?

Basically, I graduated from college and a couple months later had a baby. Now that she's almost 5 months old, I am ready to re-enter the workforce. I have 5 interviews in the next 3 days. So if one of the earlier ones decides to offer me a job, but I want to wait and see if another one might be better, how do I tell the interviewer that without destroying my chances for employment? I mean, if they can interview candidates and choose the best fit for them, why can't I interview jobs and choose the best fit for me?
