I stumbled across them before. It says you get paid to take surveys online. Of course it gives you the shpeel about making thousands working at home. But I wonder if you can actually make a few bucks on the side. It seems like a scam since they want you to pay $35 right off the bat then you can "make money". Has anyone tried this and made money?

Any time you have to PAY money to make money STEER CLEAR, it IS a scam. NO legitimate company makes you pay to earn money. This is on the news all the time where people get ripped off sending money to these companies.

Yes...you can make money taking surveys. No, you can't make thousands. (And you shouldn't sign up with any site which requires you to pay first). I've been doing surveys for several years now, am signed up with more than 10 sites, and make about $20 a month (not counting commission for referrals). It only takes a few hours of my time each month, so that's fine with me. I've listed some of the sites I have taken surveys through and actually been paid (or received other rewards like gift cards or CD'S) on the following site:

http://www.windhavenweb.com/surveys

I list how they pay you, what I like and dislike about them, whether they have an affiliate or referral program, etc. (And yes, if I say they have an affiliate program, I'm part of it, and make a commission when someone signs up through that link...I like to be up front about that).

As you're searching, here are some tips to avoid scams. Don't sign up for any survey site which asks you to pay to access the surveys. Also watch for language like "get paid for taking surveys AND SIGNING UP FOR OFFERS" if you don't want to have to sign up for stuff with other companies to get paid.

Always carefully read their terms of service and privacy policy. If in their privacy policy they say they only use aggregated info, this is GOOD SIGN they are legit. Aggregated info information that is grouped together so it can't be connected with anyones personal identification like name, e-mail, phone or address. That's what survey sites SHOULD collect. Avoid sites that say they give, rent, or sell any personal information (info that is not aggregated) to third parties (unless you really don't mind getting junk mail, telemarketing calls, and spam).

Also, never sign up for a survey through an unsolicited e-mail--since these might not even be from the site they claim to be, but could be a phishing scheme to get your information and mis-use it.

Here are two other sites which are very helpful

Yes. Waste of time. They only pay you 1-5 cents for each survey and you wont get a check until you reach $40. NOt worth it.

However I didnt pay anything for the site I went to, but its a load of crap and DONT EVER PAY ANYTHING OFF THE BAT! Its usually a scam.

The last one I tried (hey, I figured if I'm Pretending to Work, I may as well get paid for it) was a pain in the butt! It took forever and ever - after awhile I felt like I was working much too hard for the return. Remember, TNSTAAFL! (There's No Such Thing As A Free Lunch)

And they did acually get a check.
But Make sure its a legitmate survey. And not a place trying just to get personal information from you.
