becoming an architect?

Question

in the uk what is the course for architecture? is it 3yr at uni, 2 yr work experience and then a further 2yr at uni? once qualified how successful do you think setting up my own business would be? what 'salary' should i expect to earn when particualry specialising in housing (smaller projects)?
