My job does not keep me busy enough and I go home exhausted from the boredom almost every night. A lot of people here are not that busy because business has been slow for quite some time. The only reasons I stay at the job is because I work for great people and the pay and benefits are excellent. I've been looking for another job for a long time but the economy has been sluggish. I just wondered if others out there have this same problem?

I am an I T software manager who is looking to relocate to Phoenix, AZ. Checking job sites and postings I see that a software manager averages a little under 100k. I do believe that is low. Can someone tell me what the ballpark is? What is the median for 4 years of s/w development exp and 2.5 years of mgmt exp w/MBA?

My job consists of proofing policies (checking deductibles and coverages before they go out to the insured) and I send back if it has mistakes, mail out if none. I process cancellations & reinstatements, conditional and non-renewals, and prep stuff to go out in the mail. I also prepare questionnaire packages when policies are up for renewal. Oh yeah, I work in INSURANCE.

What would my position be called? I know it is something clerical, but I am trying to match job descriptions. The work I do is very broad and they fit into different categories. How do I find what my average salary should be?

By this I mean a personally fulfilling occupation which interests you, rather than something that'l earn you heaps. See, I've trained as a teacher, always thought I would have a career, have experience with all sorts of children, but can't get a teaching job. I work in a shop, a pub, and do agency work- occasionally teaching, usually nursery work being bossed about by well meaning kind teenagers when I am like 10yrs older with heaps more experience and education than me. I just want a permanant job, but I feel like I'm selling my soul to do something I don't care about. Is a career really necessary for happiness, or can you just get on with work and go home and enjoy life outside work? Does it matter?

Why it is everyone thinks they can start a business on the internet and magically make millions? The truth of the matter is you must work smart and hard for your money.
Is there anyone out there that still believes in themselves enough to make money the old fashion way? I see a great many people looking for work and big paydays but do not want to place substantive effort into it. Is there anyone out there who wants to make serious money for serious effort?

I've been working in an office for a litle over 90 days, and have found since the first week that the position entailed three times as much responsibility as was actually explained to me when I was interviewed. I am confident that I deserve a raise, and of atleat 30 percent.. (i've done the research and people working in my area with similiar responsibilities are getting that on a LOW average).. The problem is, I've never had to ask for a raise before and not sure the best (most successful way) to go about it.. Any employers or employees with helpful tips???

I am am assistant to a dean of a business school. All the scheduling and rescheduling drives me nuts, and my work load continually grows. But- we are gettting new cubicals in a few months that are supposed to be nice. And the temporary office I'm in is really nice, but I'll only be here for 3 months during the remodel. I hated this job soooo much a month ago- and I think I like it better now because we're in a lull.
I was offered a new job as a receptionist of sorts making the same amount of money with less stressful responsibilities. But in this job I'll have to be at work at 8 instead of 8:15am. And this one has room for advancement.
Someone give me a push or some advice?

Okay, im a Computer Operator for a IT-department in a Data Center and my Supervisor just pist me off! Our department is having a christmas dinner tonight at a restaurant and i forgot about it and came in to work at my normal time and he emailed me why i didnt come in 1-hour earlier that way i can leave 1-hour earlier to meet them at the dinner. My response was if you had put it on the schedule to come in 1-hour early i would have remembered that we have a dinner and to come in early. And while laughing with his hands in my face he just kept saying side-tracking things that just confused me and pist me off and making me feel like i was just trying to get away with something, instead of just saying well "okay then" So i asked him well i will just stay and leave at my normal time and i will meet you guys there?, he said naw...thats okay im just giving you a hard time because i can! Now im all pist off, he ruined my morning and i told him F*ck it i wont go to this dinner. He said Fine!

I love all of these cities, and am looking for some sort of job that will allow me to split my time between these cities... I have two bachelor degrees: International Relations w/ concentration in Latin America, and Spanish Literature. Also, I am interested in postgraduate studies. I don't require a job that pays loads of money, bust just to live a comfortable life. I speak Spanish and English (English being my first language but I am entirely bilingual). I am a United States citizen from New Orleans originally, and have lived in all of the above mentioned cities. I've worked in Media/Advertising, as well as many office environments throughout each of the cities. Maybe someone knows someone that is wanting to develop a personal international business but doesn't want to hassle with the travel? Or perhaps someone knows a corporation that needs people with my skills and experience. I know that I have a lot to offer. I appreciate your input.

I am going to likely work in a social service agency and the manager said prior to hire I will have a background check. She didn't mention credit check, but I have really bad credit and I am afraid if that comes up even though everything else is perfect they won't hire me. I was young and stupid and made mistakes, but without a job I can't pay them off...

At my job I am contract labor and they seem to be treating me like a regular employee. Most recently the man that pays me is telling me to compile a list of what I can do to increase customer satisfaction and sales, and I don't even work in the sales "department." To me that sounds like that is something that a regular employee should have to do. This is frustrating. Can someone give me a list of contract lobor laws in texas. Thanks.
