I am an I T software manager who is looking to relocate to Phoenix, AZ. Checking job sites and postings I see that a software manager averages a little under 100k. I do believe that is low. Can someone tell me what the ballpark is? What is the median for 4 years of s/w development exp and 2.5 years of mgmt exp w/MBA?

Depends on what you mean by a "Software manager".

If you're talking Project Manager for IT stuff, the range is can vary by company and level and be anywhere from 80's to 110's easily.

If you're talking about a people management position, you can easily find positions that are in the 100's.

4 years of exp. is not that much as a manager so in a leaderhip position, it may be a stretch to expect 100k+

As a Proj. Manager, you could expect in the 90-100 range I would think.

Don't forget, this is not Cali or NY or other higher cost of living place. Phoenix has lower taxes and cost of living in many respects. Real estate is still higher than in many places but still cheaper than the coasts.
