So my coworker is sitting there with her purse on her desk waiting for me to enter vital info into the accounts page so she can go. I am typing away at this question. How long should I keep it up? She always skips out early on Fridays and leaves me here to close up. I think it's really disrespectful of her. She just ran through this big list of things she has to do-go to the bank, go pick up dinner for her family, run by her friend's house. All things I have to do too, just on my time - not when I should be at work.

It has been my observation that success and good looks are related. Has there been any research conducted to verify this? If so, what occupations have been shown to be affected by physical attractiveness? Does anyone have experience with this?

Why is it that the phone always rings at the same time I take a bite of my lunch or get up to go to the bathroom ? I can sit at my desk for 2 hours doing nothing and the minute I go to a web page, get up to go to the bathroom or take a bite of my lunch, the phone will ring. Am I the only one this happens to?

I was called a few days ago to come in for a interview for this job I applied for at Sears, department store (loss prevention officer). So all day I am working on professionalising my resume and ironing my suit and everything so I could be presentable to the interviewer. I drive all the way up there today (12 mile drive, but would of been well worth the job) looking super snazzy in my suit and tie, with my resume all organized and together, and even getting their 20 minutes early and they say "oh, sorry the position was filled," I felt like going to nuts on them, but kept my cool and left. What the hell kind of business does this crap to people?

I have a bachelors in accounting and worked in corporate tax for most of my career after my Bachelors. I am now taking an interest in mathematics and thought that the best blend of both business/accounting and mathematics would be quantitative finance. In the company I work for, they are giving me an opportunity to take a 1 week training in six sigma and take a test and do a project, at which point I can continue the six sigma training at the next level, take that test, and do 3 projects, all of which involve heavy duty statistics used as a tool to come out to results and resolutions for problems in processes for departments throughout the company. This would probably be the jist of my finance experience. But if I have the masters in Quant. Finance, do you think I would be successful in a career that falls under that graduate programs study? Please let me know what my chances are. Thanks.

i admire people who have to work over christmas (emergancy services), and if i had a job worth doing like that i wouldnt argue either, but i have to work on xmas eve, boxing day, new years eve and new years day, i am the only person in my local co-op doing this, if people cant buy enough gas, electric, milk, bread, eggs etc then thats their own fault, i think ALL shops should be closed for boxing day and new years day does anyone agree
i have told them to change it, or i leave, i worked last year over xmas i have kids and i am not doing it again (i suppose you could call me a moaner, but thats what im here for lol!

My office mate has a bad habit of leaving a couple of hours early on Fridays. This leaves me with the office which gets a bit hectic at closing time. I have begun to call her with questions about her accounts and such and once even told her she would have to come back because I didn't know what to tell her client. Of course I know what to do, but I just want to annoy her as she annoys me by leaving all the time. Is it worth looking incompetent to annoy her like this? My boss will not intervene about her leaving. She has 8 years senority over me.

Seeing that 99.999 % of people that get into mlm end up quiting, I am curious as to their initial reason for getting out. Do they blame 'negative' people like me? Do they blame their upline? do they blame their company for making their product too expensive?

I've been out of college for 3 years bouncing from job to job. I spent the past 12 months creating my own business but now I am flat broke and looking for a new job.

I'm not entirely sure what field I want to go into because I had my heart set own being in business for myself. I've got a number of skills and qualifications but I just don't want another job where I'll be stuck in front of a computer screen ready to poke my own eyes out.

Can anyone help shed light on my situation?

I work in a small office of 6 people. We have one receptionist who is responsible for phones, filing, signing for deliveries, occasional walk-in sales, and permitting. She has also taken it upon herself to also be the computer tech department in place of the office manager who was doing it. She does not dress according to company dress code. Wears t-shirts, jeans, sneaker, no makeup, no jewelry. Company dress code is jacket, blouse, skirt/slacks, closed toe shoe. She is very fat...about 400 pounds.
At lunch time everyone leaves for lunch, but not at the same time. The thing is she leaves for lunch leaving the phones unattended, noone to cover deliveries or walk-in sales. The walk-in sales usually take place during lunch and she is the only one authorized to handle them. I get complaints occasionally from walk-in customers that there was no one in the office who could help them. Despite all this everyone in the office loves her, including the corporate office. (to be continued..)
