So my coworker is sitting there with her purse on her desk waiting for me to enter vital info into the accounts page so she can go. I am typing away at this question. How long should I keep it up? She always skips out early on Fridays and leaves me here to close up. I think it's really disrespectful of her. She just ran through this big list of things she has to do-go to the bank, go pick up dinner for her family, run by her friend's house. All things I have to do too, just on my time - not when I should be at work.

The boss has a meeting every Friday afternoon. He's not here. She just asked if I was having trouble....:)

Toxic co-worker! I have one just like her. I kept a log and reported it to my boss. Actually, 3 of us kept a log and reported it to our boss (that's how bad she is). She always wants to push off work on everyone else. She is now leaving us in a month, because my supervisor pretty much told her that she can't handle the work, she's not working out, he doesn't want to go through the steps to fire her, but she either needs to get better or resign. She chose resignation and put an extended notice in.

My point in my rambling above, is don't deal with it. Don't do her work, leave it for her, and let her take the flack. Or, do it if needs done, but let your boss know, "Jane left these reports unfinished. She said she had to go to the bank and see a friend so she left early. I got them done so we wouldn't get backlogged."
It tells him what is going on, and at the same time makes you look good that you're being a team player.

Tell your co worker how you feel. What shes doing frustrates you and that if you could work together as a team then you could leave when she leaves. Certainly she would understand. Tell her that you wouldn't leave her to take care of all the loose ends. It should be both of your responsibility and an office rule to lock up and leave together!! And your boss needs to step out of the meeting on Friday to see that this is being done. Its his job to be in the meeting And away from it when necessary. Don't stress. Your boss can handle a meeting, a surprise visit and your annoying co worker...that's part of what your boss does. AND why he/she gets paid the big bucks!!

Stop doing her work for her. She needs to take responsibility for her own work. Talk to her and tell her how you feel and that you will no longer do her work so she can leave early. Leaving early is stealing from her employer. If talking to her doesn't work, I would go to your boss and see if he can do something about it.

But your asking questions on here!
Humm maybe both of you should just do the work and leave!
Tell her to do her own work or your reporting her to the boss!
Do not do her work!
Leave it!
The boss should figure it out because its not done!

Sorry about your situation. You should talk to her and tell her how you feel and that she shouldn't be leaving so early...and if she doesn't listen, then maybe you should talk to your boss...then I bet she'll listen...good luck :)
