I see that some people who spend 4 years in school have to assist people when they are done and they dont make that much. How long does this last.

Well I think it depends on what your degree is in. If you choose to work in a pharmaceutical company for example you can get paid very well and not have to be someone’s assistant. The best advice I could tell you is to work for someone else and look into government grants to start your own business so you don’t have to work for someone else forever. That way you can have control over your career. Be your own boss! Saving up the money or spending the time to look for grants or loans for a business could take several years but at least you are working towards a better life and career. The more education you have the better. Knowledge is power. While working you can also choose a company that has tuition reimbursement that way you can work on your masters degree while saving money for you own business.

Stay positive!

Degrees help you, but I don't have a BS and I'm an Executive Assistant for a major firm and have been in the job for 11 years now. If you have the knowledge and the willingness to work long hard hours, then you can get a job.

It depends. A lot of employers aren't going to hire any fresh faces from college anymore, so you have no choice but to assist people. Once you gained enough experience, you also have to know people who has the power to hire you. It is very competetive out in todays job market.

i think the job market is getting more competitive now and at the same time, the number of graduates each year is constantly increasing. as a result, the demand is lower than the supply, so that more and more graduates end up with assistant-related jobs.

I'm sure it depends on the field. Could you be more specific? Also, many jobs want you to have experience.
