switching jobs these days like there is no tomorrow...I am talking about good jobs, but jobs with out retirement at the end of the tunnel...MY QUESTION is this, are these young people creating a whole new generation of people that will not have retirement checks or SS checks? I know that some will put some money away, but i don't believe that private retirement systems are very secure and i think that 401 K is shaky at best.. add to that the fact that young people are not staying with one company long enough to earn any retirement and I fear for them...anybody care to comment? please keep the bashing to a minimum though..thank you..

I live in Seattle, Washington, and I'm just curious how to find jobs like the ones you find on DIRTY JOBS. I'm not exactly looking for dirty and disgusting, just interested in maybe doing something that nobody else does. Something that I can get without a degree... Any websites, knowledge, or advice where to look would be great... Again I live in Seattle, and so if it's local it would be a plus! THANX!

I have a second interview with a naval museum. I went through the first interview and finally, six months later, I get a second interview. However, I have a bit of a stumbling block and I'd like some unbiased advice.

The first interviewer asked me why I left my last job. I told him that I was "laid off" and since I was too excited about getting the job, I forgot to explain WHY.

The reason why I was "let go" was that at the time, I was in school and I had a lot of pressure on me from that as well as some personal issues at home (not to mention that I came into work feeling lethargic). All of that took its toll and during rush, I accidentally came off as rude to a few customers. That's why I was let go. Career counselors have told me to say it as being "laid off" and explain it honestly but tactfully.

So how do I explain this to the second interviewer? I'm not lying and I refuse to lie at all. I really, really, really want this job.

I work in sales, and I have been in sales for about 10 years. I'm only 26 years old, and sales is all I have ever done. I used to like it until now. Now I just can't stand begging people to spend money with me and purchase my product for their business. It's a very demoralizing feeling, and I always feel unwanted by the business owners. I don't like approaching people cold to ask them to buy my crap. Do I need to just be a man and accept that nobody likes their jobs and just do it, or do I need a career makeover? If not sales, then what can I do? How do I find what my calling is? Please help, all advice appreciated! Thanks.

I know this sounds like a silly question but I am not certain of my job interview time on Wednesday. Is it possible for me to call my interviewer tomorrow and ask him when it is?

Here is the thing. After 11 years working my way up to middle management. The new HR director, who pretends to be a kindly old grandmother type, tells me that I'm immature (I'm 37, married, 11 year old son), totally uncoachable (I've never had a negative review, 0 write ups, my boss thinks I do a great job), and she wonders just what it is that I'm good at. I'm fit to be tied. I'm not a violent guy, but I swear, if some guy had said these things to me, I'd have punched him in the mouth, which would have solved my "quit or get fired dilemma". It wouldn't matter to me, but now I'm looking for a new job, and the ***** HR director is the gatekeeper of employee information and could very easily ruin opportunities for a new job. Welcome to middle management. When I sat down with my boss and the HR witch, she put on her Grandmother routine and claims she didn't say anything, and now my boss thinks I'm out of line. Hopefully they'll just can my ass, so I can move on........thoughts???

2. What are the rewarding aspects of this career? What are the disadvantages?
3. What is the working environment like?
4. Is this job physically demanding?
5. What hours do they work from?
6. What are the necessary personality traits for this career?
7. What are the challenges of this job?
8. What kind of benefits (dental, etc.) would be given from this career?
9. What qualifications and education are required?

If you got your information from a site, please provide me with a link. If this is from personal experience, please indicate so that I may quote you, as I am doing a career project for my English class. I would be EXTREMELY grateful to any neurologists who would allow me to contact them via email this week so I can get any more necessary information.

Thank you!

Thank you!
