What are the best parts of Chicago for singles in their 20's?
How much can I expect to pay in rent?
Do I need a car?
I will have to wear suits and business casual to work. How much should I spend on work clothes?
Where are some good places for nice but inexpensive work clothes?
What is a good source to find services such as dry cleaner, hair dresser, doctor, etc?
Is there one source of info for all these things I need to know? Maybe 2?

I am a recent college grad who is working for a year or two before i continue my education. I am single, with no dependents, and do not own a house as of yet. as I rent and work in New York City. I was hoping to increase my week-to-week paychecks (I'm paid weekly) so that I can save more, and have more $ to budget. Currently, my deduction is set to "0." I have been told a variety of things regarding where I should have my deduction; right now, I believe I get too little net money and would rather have less come April but would like to avoid getting nailed. What can I expect? Thank you.

I didn't work until after high school, but my family made my brother get a job way before that. lol That was one of the benefits to being the only girl...in spite of the lack of freedom, and harsher rules I had to endure versus my brother. What about you? Did you work because your parents made you, because you wanted to, or did you not work until after you graduated?

I'm very interested in the field of forensics. I want to know more about what exactly they do. I could research it on the web, but I want real and true answers, not glorified statements about the career. Is it generally a good job? How about the pay and benefits? Is there opportunities for promotion? Do you ever have to go to court and testify, or is that just for managers, etc? Is it a M-F day job, or are the labs run 24-7? Any info that someone could share with me would be appreciated. Thanks

My boss has serious problems, seems no body at the office likes her anymore. She is always causing problems between co-workers. She doesn't like it when we all get along. She emails some of us and asks if we are having problems with certain other co-workers. Doesn't she know that if we were having issues with someone we would come to her? Why would she keep trying to stir things up among us?

Is this normal? Is she paranoid?

I have been a loyal employee for 10 years. I recently found out that I am still below midpoint on my salary scale. I have been offered another job which is not quite as good as the one I have but it has a good future earnings potential. My bosses all tell me how much of an asset I am to the company and that I am doing a fantastic job. I also recently did receive a 10% increase in salary. But if I were to leave and come back they would pay me at least 20% more than I make now based on my experience and name in the community. I feel like they are running over me. Should I take a chance and leave? I don't appreciate being treated like a door mat. Please help.
