I've worked since 7th grade (even got my S.S.card from the principals office). I had an opportunity to work in a stationery store, and i took it. They had a great selection of books, and I got a discount. I loved it.
I'm 56 now. And i still haven't slowed down.

I'm the baby of four girls. They are all in grad school or in the real world working and I'm about to be a Freshman in college. They'd always make comments about how when they were 16 they had to work and all that jazz. My mom really doesn't care that I don't work because she knows that although they complain about my joblessness they get me the necessities of life. I'm not a spoiled kid and I CAN'T do what I want because I'm the youngest. I am now in the process of looking for a job so I may learn independence and responsibility instead of waiting for the real thing to hit me. So far no avail but I make a living living off my sisters, so I'll be fine...lol...

I got my first "real" job at 14 because I wanted to. I was a very independent teen. Prior to that I had a paper route since I was 8. Maybe working in fast food sucked, but I learned more about real life in that Taco bell than Ive learned since.

I had to go out and find a job the day I turned 16...got it at McDonald's...worked through my Junior and Senior year. In those summers, I also worked construction and part time at TJ Maxx...I ended up paying my own way through college.

As I was growing up and I was about 15 yrs. of age, I wanted
to work, to make my own money. So I signed myself up for
summer jobs every summer. At the age of 18, I started working
at a permanent job. My parents didn't pressure us, but we knew,
since they had bills to pay, we would work and make our own money to buy our own clothes, shoes and necessity.

My parents didn't make me, per se, but they stopped paying for things like new clothes after I turned 16, so I had to get a job.

I had no job until after high school. I also had no car and no allowance. My parents fed and clothed me, gave me lunch money and bought me a bicycle for transportation. After high school graduation, I got a job.

I started working part time when I was 14. My parents told me, if you want something, work for it.
