I live in Seattle, Washington, and I'm just curious how to find jobs like the ones you find on DIRTY JOBS. I'm not exactly looking for dirty and disgusting, just interested in maybe doing something that nobody else does. Something that I can get without a degree... Any websites, knowledge, or advice where to look would be great... Again I live in Seattle, and so if it's local it would be a plus! THANX!

Aircraft Mechanic, Power lineman, and “Over the Road” truck drivers are three jobs I know that make way more money than some of my college friends. The starting pay for an Aircraft Mechanic is around $20 per hour but you need to go to an aircraft mechanic school to be FAA certified Aircraft Mechanic. Power linemen are people who work with cables and telephone lines in those utility poles. However, you have to be physically strong to get up those poles and you have to work with dangerous electrical lines in bad weather. The starting pay for them is $30 per hour but you have to start out as an apprentice electrician. “Over the Road” truck drivers make a lot money. You travel interstate and probably Canada and Mexico. All of these are union jobs that require you to have certain license or certificate to get them. Power linemen are the ones that are really dirty however and they’re a bit dangerous since you have to work in all kinds of weather, climbing up those poles at tall heights, and working with power lines. Some Computer technicians that have a bunch of certificates also make a lot of money compared to college graduates. You should also try going into business yourself and become an entrepreneur like me. College is not for everyone. It’s better that he has a job that he likes than spending thousands of dollars in college and later on loans to find out that he doesn’t like college or he’s not doing well there. Then he drops out and joins the military. Some guys I know who are in these professions actually are college graduates themselves. Some of them were engineers, lawyers, accountants, bankers etc. But they make a lot of money in their current vocational professions because they’re union and they have vocational skills some companies need. Some of these jobs aren’t heavy thinking jobs except obviously aircraft mechanics.

Not sure, maybe flick through the phone directory and any companies of interest call them and ask how they got into their chosen profession, That way you'll be hearing from the actual source, hey you never know if you sound interested enough and it's a bizzaar job they may even have a hard time finding employees and may ask you in for an interview or hands on training..

I think any kind of business nowadays has not been produced exactly by going to school.

Don't look for jobs. Look for business opportunities.
