OK, should I move to Alaska.
Have a job offer to in Anchorage. Need to talk more
specifics of salary before I can make up my mind, but here is the scoop.
I am single (have been for 10 years :( and am currently living in S. Calif. Went back to college to learn new trade in the environmental engineering field, but having a hard time getting my foot in the door in the lower 48.
Not real happy in S. Cal. not the typical S. Cal gal, more outdoorsy tree hugger type. Have lived in several places but nowhere real cold. Did live in Kansas for 3 years which was cold, by that was 20 years ago. Visited Alaska 2 times. Went to Homer a few years ago by myself specifically to go kayaking and loved it. Of course it was summer.
So... want to go. Would like to meet a man while I am up there, but don't know if I am ready for that kind of cold and the dark thing.
Any feedback?

If one asked about my vacation and salary and I gave them the information will I still be considered for the job. Most people say never discuss salary but they were concerned because of my experience and many years with one company.

I know I am good at what I do, but from the time I set an interview up, till the end of the actual interview, I am a complete bag of nerves. This is a serious problem for me, because, although I know I am more than capable and completey dedicated to what I do, it really doesn't reflect during the interview. I wish I could just have 2 weeks to show what I'm capable of and then let companies make their decision.
Any advice on how to handle these situations?
Thanks

This job that i have been wanting for a long time came up and i took it. I called into the Department Store TODAY and told them that i would not be in to work that i got a job that pays more. My X-Boss could not understand that i have to go where the money is. I am getting more pay now for less hours... who would not do that?

Is it wrong to not want to go to a work outing. I am the type to love my weekends to myself. Why would I want to hang out with these people on a Saturday night! Does that make me look like a bad person?

I understand the need to nurture effective relationships in the workplace. Whenever I have the time, I like to talk and be friendly but lately, work has reached a feverish pace. Sometimes I get interrupted at the most inopportune moments by my colleagues. It may not seem like much but several interruptions a day at 10 minutes a piece can be highly disruptive. How do you tell someone to go away without sounding like you're telling them to take a hike?

NOTE: I work in a cubicle, I no longer have an office with a door.

I know I'm only a temp, but he told me to close the window and he put the air con on, without asking me if I'm feeling hot. I'm freezing and he's out of the office now while I'm sitting under the air con!! Thank goodness it's my last day today, but should I switch the air con off? I had to ring my bank, when he was in the office (he didn't know who I was ringing), and he wanted to know "what it was all about".
