Is it wrong to not want to go to a work outing. I am the type to love my weekends to myself. Why would I want to hang out with these people on a Saturday night! Does that make me look like a bad person?

No, it doesn't make you a bad person. I totally understand where you are. I do not enjoy meeting the ppl I work wit houtside of work. Yes, they are great ppl and all have families and get togethers, but I just don't enjoy mingling outside of work. Just me. I think if you dont feel like it, then not to worry, just do what you feel is right for you.

No, not selfish at all. Might try to compromise though so you don't come off as snobby. Just try to go occassionally. It will help morale, will make your workplace chemistry better, and who knows, you might have some fun, too. I'm sure some of your co-workers would like to see you. People are a lot more fun outside of the workplace, go ahead and give it a try.

No it doesnt. I hate work functions, u have to be polite to people who pass u in the corridors on daily basis and not say hi. workmates are just that! Not people to spend ur weekends with.

Don't we spend enough time with them. It is worse than an arranged marriage sometimes. I barely get enough time with those I love and choose to be around. 40 hours a week is already too much!!!

i would not go, i undertand where you are comming from, I would just tell everyone that asks that you did not want to go. Ask them if they had fun... and just be cool about it. no one is going to get mad. You will see that not a lot of people go to them anyways.
