It goes without saying that you will go where the money is and where you will get a better working life. Don't feel guilty. At the end of the day the department store were happy to make you do the maximum work for a minimal wage.

If they pay less than minimum wage, they may be in violation of Federal Law and you may be entitled to wages you were not payed. You must have proof of the hours you worked and the pay you received, then contatct the miinimum wage board (on posters required to be posted at your employer) and report them. When changing jobs, you have to be careful not to appear to be a "Job Hopper", someone who changes jobs often for minor reasons. Employers prefer to hire someone who will be with them for a long time, employee recruiting is expensive and time consuming. If you have good reason, change jobs, but remember that the grass is not always greener on the other side, investigate before you make a final decision.

Don't feel guilty! I busted my butt working 4 mos. of weekends straight for my ex-boss. She could have cared less, she was a wench and slave driver.
I have bent over backwards for all my bosses, she was the worst. If your job is not giving you satisfaction & recognition, pay, whatever, just do what's in your own best interests. Just give notice and be professional when you leave and best wishes!

I definately say you made the right decision. You HAVE to follow your heart. If money is something you need right now, you have to go for it. If money isn't something that is super necessary right now, maybe you could go for a job that will give you great experience, etc. Everyone has different reasons for taking or leaving a job. So, as long as you are true to youself, your feelings, and your wants/needs...then you made the right decision. Good luck!

yes i think that it is okay to quit one for another if the benefits and money are more than the previous. we are in a world today that money talks and others walk the economy is too scarce and with the auto industry leaving the way it is nobody is assured of anything so i say take what you can and make the most you can cause you never know when someone is going to take it all away and leave us with nothing you think they will care about your feelings or situation?

No loyalties lost in today's market place. Let's face it. If an employer finds someone who will work for less pay to do your job then they would let you go. So, you leaving is no problemo. You need to look out for you in today's job market.

you made a right desion but you should pick a job that you like, and not by how much you get payed. you should be able to go to work and not feel angerd or stressed out because that will make you want to quit your job. you should go to work and feel good about it.
