I would send them, but the two people that interviewed me said that if I needed anything to contact HR because they have offices in other states and are not always easy to get ahold of. They are the two that will decide if I get the job, HR just does the background check. Should I send them to HR or what???

I want to work at the local hospital, but there's a union making getting the job there almost impossible. I went to an interview, they all liked me, I had the right requirements....a few days later I call to see when I can start and she informs me that the union doesn't think they should hire anyone outside and closes the position. How can this happen and how can I get around it?

Hey guys!!

I came across a job I'm very interested in on www.monster.com and e-mailed my cover letter and resume to the employer on Friday 9/22. I have not heard anything back yet, and it is now Tuesday 9/26. On the advertisement it said to get in contact with one person, and on their website it gives another point-of-contact. Should I send my resume to that person as well just to be sure they received it? Should I call towards the end of this week if I haven't heard anything? Should I go up in person with resume in hand? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Dr. Harrison,Univ of GA, Atlanta has found what black people have been saying for a long time. The University of Georgia’s unprecedented study indicates that dark-skinned blacks face a distinct disadvantage when applying for jobs, even if they have resumes superior to lighter-skinned black applicants. "I think it has a lot to do with the general comfort level that people have with dark-skinned blacks and light-skinned blacks," Harrison said. "The media depicts dark-skinned black men as violent and threatening."

Harrison said he was reminded of the controversial Time magazine cover that featured O.J. Simpson during his murder trial when the magazine darkened Simpson’s image to make him appear more menacing. We found that a light-skinned black male can have only a bachelor’s degree and typical work experience and still be preferred over a dark-skinned black male with an MBA and past managerial positions, simply because expectations of the light-skinned black male are much higher.

I just started an entry-level job as a College Admissions Counselor and am enjoying it. In fact, I have decided that Higher Ed. is the career for me. That being said, I need a graduate degree to stay in the field and want to leave this job after 1 year to study (the college I work at does not offer advanced degrees). Do you think this would be ok? I don't want to burn any bridges or upset my supervisors and lose a good reference. What do you think?

I enrolled in the Job Corps program last November after returning after Hurricane Rita and the admissions counselor wanted some documents and I signed release forms to get my records to her. Well a month ago, I asked her what is up with the documents she received and said that the counselor will mail them to me last month so I could find another counselor in the area I could find and i never received those documents in the mail and it has been a month. What should I do? Should I start all over again with the documents?

I am one class short from obtaining my bachelor's, I need to fulfill my internship requirement. If I am applying for a city and county position that requires a bachelor's degree, will they be considerate of my situation and allow me to fulfill an internship requirment by working with them? Should I put it on my resume that I walked during commencement ceremony this past June but still need this one course? Or wait after my interview and hopefully after getting the position to tell them? Thank you for your help! =)
