Height Requirement for Police Officers?

Is there a height requirement to be a Police Officer. I'm 5'6" w/o shoes, 160lbs, but very well built. I know i'm below average height but will that hinder me in my pursuit to become a cop? Any police officers who can help me would be awesome.

Size is not everything. Some of us smaller guys can show a girl a pretty good time too.

And by the way nissan168, you might find that the highway patrol has a lower height requirement than a municipal force.

Your size shouldn't prevent you from getting a police officer job. Regardless of size, officers should have good communication skills, they should be as physically fit as they can, they should be well trained in officer survival skills and tactics, and should know when and how to use their equipment. Getting police officer jobs is becoming more and more competitive. Do whatever you can to make yourself the best candidate that you can do. For example, consider getting a college degree if you don't have one, don't do anything illegal, maintain a good reputation, keep a good driving record, don't get bad credit, improve all of your communication skills as much as possible, and become as physically fit as you can. How well you do on written tests and during interviews can be very important when trying to get police officer jobs. Make sure to prepare for any tests and interviews. Consider local, state, and federal jobs.

It depends on what department you are thinking of joining.
There are cities that have no height or age requirement. I know of
one Policeman in San Francisco that is 4"11. He may be the shortest cop in the nation. In larger cities, check with the recruiting
office, they will give you all of their specific requirements.

I know a Police Officer that is 5'7" w/o shoes and he hasn't had any problems.
