How do I obtain a voided check if I don't use checks? Can I go to the bank, as for starter checks and then write in my name on the left corner and put VOID across it??

I closed inMarch, and the mortgage company said that I would have to pay 5 months prepaid property tax upfront and pay into an escrow account every month. So, I have basically already paid for 10 months of property tax, but when it is due, there will be a bill for 6 months of property taxes, and an impound account with 11 months of property taxes already paid. So, id the mortgage company supposed to pay me back the extra money, or do they just send all the money in for property taxes, and I get the refund from the city. I just dont know how it works.

I am a responsible person with excellent credit. My employer accidentally didn't auto-deposit my check and I wrote out my bills like usual because I didn't know this at the time. My credit card payment bounced and my Chase/Bank One APR went from 8% to 30%.

My employer won't write to Chase/Bank One to verify they accidentally didn't auto-deposit and Chase/Bank One won't change this for 8-10 months.

I can change this over to another card but I wanted to know if there's any recourse for this using a non-profit service or federal credit counseling. I'm more upset that I have been a Chase/Bank One customer for most of my life with excellent credit and they would do this to a person for 1 problem.

I understand legally they have the right but is there any other way to report this since they are not willing to work with me on this?

..right now, the market is really bad and layoffs have been taking place left and right. Fourtunately, I have been lucky enough to keep my job - but not sure as to how long. My boss mentioned to me that I might want to keep my options open.

Here's my question:

I was browsing the classifieds, and noticed that a position as a Paralegal/Legal Assistant is currently available at a law firm (that just so happens to be in the same building as I currently work). I pass all the employees on a day to day basis and chit chat with them on occasion.

I'm thinking about asking about this position - but not quite sure if they will laugh in my face (due to lack of legal background training, etc.) DO ALL PARALEGAL/LEGAL ASSISTANTS have intensive training to work in this field?

I don't really like my job because there is never enough work to do and I'm always bored. The commute is also way too long for the amount of money I'm getting paid.

I need some good solutions so I can still get a good referral.

I'm a college undergrad who is looking for an internship for summer 2008. In your opinion, is GE a good place to intern, and possibly work after graduation? Please provide anecdotal or empirical data to support your opinion (any answers not containing relevant data will be given a "thumbs down").

My friend is being evicted. She has been issued a summons to go to court, but they have also issued her Fiance a summons saying that he owes her back rent also. He lives with her most of the time, but he is not on her lease. Can they do this?

I want to make a counter-offer on a house, but the listing has 2 major inaccuracies: it lists 2 full baths (there is only 1.5- 1 bath and 1 powder room) and it lists 2 living areas and a breakfast nook- no dining (it has only has 1 living and 1 breakfast nook and no other common area). How much is the missing .5 bath and living area worth so I can reduce my offer? Additional house details:
- 1150 sq foot (1200-1400 is typical for area)
- House is foreclosure and bank is being difficult/inflexible- the want me to pay all fees/survey/inspection.
- House is listed "as-is", but needs 2 broken windows replaced and a new AC unit immediately. House is considered a fixer-upper in a very desirable neighborhood zip 75223.
- House has been on market 90 days when they sell typically in 7 days, and sometimes in 1 day!
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Can I simply call police, ou go to court? Thanks all!

I just got a job offer for a new job but I am wondering if I should leave my current one. I will get better pay and comprable benefits. But I will have to travel about 30 min one way to work. Where I now only travel 15-20 depending on traffic and it is a lot closer to where I live. At my current job it is in a small office with only 4 people. I have requested to have some time off recently for my brothers wedding and it was almost not given to me. At the new job it will be a call-center so lots of people but I wont have any time off for 6 months. I really dont know what to do. Please help!

we are due to close on a house friday. it failed inspection, and i wanted to back out, but my husband wants to see if they can have everything fixed by closing. our realtor is trying to rush the closing and postpone the final walk-thru, which gives me a bad feeling. we don't even have a copy of the wood-infestation report. the contract states that it terminates friday at midnight, so are we pretty much in the clear if we don't sign?
