I am sure many of you have inquired about work at home opportunities... most of them are scams. Would you buy a book detailing how you can avoid being scammed by these companies? If so, how much would you pay for it?

My grandmother in Hong Kong left me around US30,000 in her will. My father is going to be wiring the amount to my bank account here in the US soon. Will that money be subject to an inheritance tax or any sort of tax? Also, is wiring the money the best way to transfer the funds? Thanks in advance!

I just bought a house, and am planning on buying a few more for investment purposes. I may sit on them a while, buy when the market is bad, sell when values go up, etc. My question, is how do the taxes work. I know there is a property tax and a school tax. I think school tax is 1% of your income, and property tax is like 3% of the houses value. My question, if I own 5 houses, do I have to give 5% of my income to school taxes? Would that make it impossible for anyone to own more than 100 houses? If you're only supposed to pay taxes to the school district that you actually live in, should I get my money back for currently paying for two districts? The house I just bought is in Pittsburgh, PA, and the place I'm actually living is in Westmoreland, co.

Please explain how the taxes work, maybe I'm wrong the parts I think I know. Thanks.

I have been at the law firm I work at for 17 months now. I work there as a paralegal for the senior partner. I am also the financial manager for the office, which is why I have this problem - I know first-hand that the firm is going broke. I don't know how much longer they can afford to keep paying me...
I really love my job, the people I work with, and my boss - I don't want to work anywhere else, but payday is Wednesday, and I might not get any money.

There is also the possibility that they can save this, but I don't see how. I just don't want to quit if I don't have to.

What would you do? What should I do?

I'm doing an essay and any details would be great. Like the specific job, name of company and place, duties, starting salary and ending salary, hours, and difficulties would be very helpful.

If a homeowner doesn't keep up with his property taxes, the government can seize his house . I heard you can buy a house for a fraction of the cost if you pay the back taxes . How can I find out which houses are available and how to buy them ? I've met my county commisioner a few times, that's any help .

I just went to cash in a Postal Employees Credit Share (kind of like a savings bond) but..?
When I got there they said the maturity date is when the money was taken out. I thought the maturity date is when you are able to take the money out and from that date on is when it gains interests. Now I know for a fact this money was NEVER taken out because you have to be 18 to take out the money. I am 19. and I know i didnt take the money out. Besides I still have the savings bond certificate. They are suppose to take those from you when you cash it in! So what am i suppose to do!

please help! this is an emergency!

If monopolies are illegal, why is the US government doing so little to control their monopolistic ways. They keep eliminating competition is so many areas of software with their control over the OS, and yet the Bush Administration has never done anything to try and control them. Why do you think that is?
