Capitol One has the most generous acceptance policy.

One really good place to start with is your current bank. You have a history there and they are more likely to take a serious look at you.

The worst place to start is with the Discover Card; they have the strictest rules for acceptance and turn down the most people. Since being turned down hurts your credit rating it is best to wait until you have established credit with another company before trying them.

If you are going to carry a balance, look for one with the lowest interest rate. If you are going to pay it off completely each month, look for one with the best perks.

Discover card is great for perks (especially if you sign up for their seasonal deals like 5% back on gas, etc.) But, if you are going to carry a balance, they are the worst since they go back two billing cycles to calculate interest.

As to Chase, Citibank, Capital One, etc. - the interest rate is about the only difference.

Your best bet would be where you bank. They are already familiar with you.
