I have to write journal entries for various transactions. But there are a couple that I don't get. The business is family owned 50% by the father and 25% each by his two children. Transaction A: Party Doers Inc. has a decided to sell its land and building to one of the real estate investors. The selling price is $146,000. Party Doers Inc. is not moving. It will continue to do business out of its current location and rent the space out from the new owner in 2008 and beyond. The store fixtures are not being sold. The building has an original cost of $80,000. Transaction B: Party Doers Inc. will use $60,000 of the proceeds of the land and building sale to pay off its notes payable balance. I need journal entries for both transactions.

I applied at Target, and was offered the position of Floor Sales/Fitting Room at $7.50 an hour, granted I pass the drug test. I passed the drug test, and received a voicemail from Target saying that my orientation was this week. My car's inspection expired today, and I found out that my wheel axel is broken, so I have to get that fixed this week in addition to passing my car's inspection. I called Target, and told them that I wouldn't be able to make it to orientation, but got this groan and attitude, before being told the next one is on the 7th. I don't even technically work there yet, and they're giving me an attitude about being polite enough to inform them that I wouldn't be able to make the date that they so rudely scheduled for me without asking. I don't need the job, and have already applied at some other places in search of a better salary. Should I just tell them to stick their job where the sun don't shine?

Last night (3) of my plumbing trucks were broken into and over $40k worth of tool and material were stole on the trucks. I have liability insurance and auto insurance, should I file a claim over this.

Currently I pay about $9000 per year for my liability insurance. The concern I have is if I file a claim how much will my insurance likely go up? Am I going to be cancelled or end up paying $18,000 per year for the next 10 years?

What should I do? I've never made a claim against my insurance before?

A "Law Firm" out of CA called me last week and spoke to me about a credit card bill I had that is past due. The man told me that the Office turned the bill over to them because it was past due. He told me he would work with me about making monthly payments, that he would send me paper work to review in the mail.
Today, another gentleman from the law office called and told me I would have to make the FULL payment today. If I could not make it today, then they would add court cost and lawyer fees to it and I would get served papers.
I called a judge here in my town (MS) and he told me there was nothing they could do since I was unemployed. I just thought I should get some opinions of some of you.
I called the guy back after speaking with him and asked for "Verification of Debt" and he got VERY ugly with me and hung up on me. The judge told me to ask for it and they would never call me again.
What should I do?

I'm in my second year of college (18 y/o female in New York), and am looking for a job to take up some of my extra time. I'm currently in a Liberal Arts program, while I complete the prerequisites to the Nursing (RN) program at school. If everything goes well and as planned, I'll be in the Nursing program next Fall (2008). I could easily get a job at Target, but they offered me a job at $7.50 an hour, which although is convenient, is not appealing to me. I've also applied at an OB/GYN office as a part time receptionist, and am waiting for a response. I need a job with a part time schedule, because I'm going to be over my head in classwork this semester. What part time jobs do you suggest for a future nurse?

I am confused in how the interest and minimum payment works. Suppose I have a credit card bill for $400 and it says minimum payment of $20 and I pay that $20, will I get charged any interest fees?

Also, if I am buying something that says $39/month on an approved credit card, then I would have to pay only $39/month until the balance is zero... am I right? Please let me know or simplfy my case

thanks

My co-worker or I are being considered for a promotion. He is a very likeable guy but he is unorganized. His lack of organizational skills already are a detrement to our office. He does a good job, but he is ineffecient which causes a lot of overtime. I feel that he has a lot to work on before he should be considered. He has been there 6 months longer than me. While interviewing I would like to somehow show that I do not lack in these areas without putting him down. How can I prove myself in the interview. If he is promoted his position can easily be filled from within the office. Whereas there is no one to replace me because I work in a specialty department, and there is no one that has any experience in my area. I also have 14 years experience in the same field as my co-worker. I would appreciate if people with upper management experience would reply.

I don't understand tax deductions. They're good for reducing your taxes, but then, spending money on lots of stuff isn't exactly good for my wallet. So is there some sort of expenses sweet spot or what?

My girlfriends & I are going on vacation together next year, and we think it will cost about $500 per person for travel, lodging, food, etc. How can we best organize and save money for our trip? I was thinking one of us should set up a savings account at her bank, and everyone should deposit $50/month into the account. Is this possible? Any better ideas?

I just got a call from a bill collector. It is from a Credit card that is in collections. The balance was 600. Now they want 1100. She told me they will start legal proceedings in 4 days and that Georgia is a garnishable state. I can't give them any money right now. I have no means. Can they really do that? Do I need to file Bankruptcy? This account is two years old. Why would they wait till now to do this?
