I know that most estate sales are done due to family members who have passed, but I also know they are held in order to clear out homes of those that are still very much alive and have become "pack-rats" over the years. Case in point.......my elderly mother. We are trying to get many things in her home sold so we can sell her home and get her in an assisted living place. I have contacted some estate sale companies and actually found one that seems quite on the ball, been in business for many years and even takes credit cards from the shoppers and I haven't found any that did that. Their percentage they take is 35%..but they do ALL the work along with after-work like auctions and ebay. My brother thinks its a rip-off. My mother lives in a HUGE house and has LOTS of stuff from collectibles, furniture and way to much to even list here. We are in Michigan any suggestions???

1.) Ever have one?
2.) Any places/companies you'd recommend
3.) Ideas/help/suggestions.

- Don't ask for time off, I just send people e-mail that I am taking a couple of days off.
- Keep my head phones on at work, listening to music on my iPod, ignoring the world around me..
- Invite the CEO (also a retired four star USAF General) to my myspace account, so he can keep-up to whatever I am doing.
- Don't help my co-workers
- Say nasty things about the corporation I work for in a Blog on mysapce, I'll use my real name.
- Call people on the weekend for work related issues
- Kiss people's behinds, fake smiles.

I have a small business. I recently received a tax statement assessed by my county for "unsecured property tax", which includes tax on just about anything I use for my business. When I read this I could just not believe it. Is this legal? How can they tax me on my property, like my desk, or my car that I use for personal use and work? Isn't it enough that I paid taxes on all that stuff when I BOUGHT it, and the fact that I pay income taxes as well? Where do they get this stuff????

I'm thinking of applying for jobs out of state with my degree, a history degree. Places like Colorado, Missouri, heck even Montana, because I want to use my degree. I mean I earned the degree so I want to do something with it.

I live in Texas also and am trying not to get too far away from where my family lives. But I'm open to moving far away if that can get me a job in my field.

What do you all suggest?

We're looking to sell about 1 1/2 years after the arm is set to expire. Don't necessarily want to refinance at this point.

Is extending the ARM a possibility?

Our A/C went out on a Friday, so I emailed my landlord and let him know that I think it just needs recharged. He didn't respond for a couple days, and when my boyfriend called him his voicemail said he would get back "on the next business days". I thought landlords were pretty much supposed to be reachable every day of the week. He responded to my email saying it would be fixed but still hasn't been out and rent is due. Should I wait til he gets it fixed? My boyfriend thinks so....

Here are the exact circumstances:

Everything is current and payments have been on time for more than two years.

I have one car loan with a balance of around 12K.

I have one CC with a balance of 4K (maxed out) and another one with a balance of 1K (maxed out).

I have 5 "derogatory accounts" on my report (they were 30 days or more overdue at one point in time), but are either paid off or current.

I have no collection accounts or public records.

I've already paid off 2 car loans.

My credit score is 590.

I want to get it to at least 680 within the next 3-6 months.

Is that even possible and what should I do???

Net income (income after taxes) is about 10K a month (it's only been like this for about 2.5 months).

To anyone who spams YA with "you are not a FICO score" or "credit is evil", please spare me.

A friend's mother recently entered a nursing home. She was told she would have to spend down her resources before she could go on Medicaid. Her will names her two sons and a grandchild as beneficiaries. She also receives an annuitized pension and an IRA, that pay her a monthly sum for as long as she lives. How can she best protect her assets, or is it too late?
