I'm thinking of applying for jobs out of state with my degree, a history degree. Places like Colorado, Missouri, heck even Montana, because I want to use my degree. I mean I earned the degree so I want to do something with it.

I live in Texas also and am trying not to get too far away from where my family lives. But I'm open to moving far away if that can get me a job in my field.

What do you all suggest?

Moving away from family doesn't mean being out of their lives. You can still call as often as you like. You can visit them. They can visit you. You might look within a radius that could be driven in 4 or 5 hours. Or look for cities that have easy air connections to your nearest Texas airport.
