If a private individual calls a number and asks if his car or house is for sale, will I be in trouble or am I ok? This is assuming that the party has his/her number already on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY. This regards to California. Thanks.

I read that taxes are going to be imposed by this fall on internet shopping, new monthly taxes on DSL and other connections. One senator is even predicting taxes on e-mail.

My husband and I want to sell our home. We found a beautiful new community of new construction in S. Wis. but the seller's market is very, very slow in Northern Illinois.

What tips do you have for selling your home fast?

I'm interested in creating a portfolio that has historically returned 7 percent every year, and no less.

Is a money market fund (5%) the closest I'm going to get, or is there some magical combination of bonds & defensive stocks that could get me that 7 percent every year? For the moment, I'm not interested in annualized returns. I need highly predictable returns for every year. Thanks for your help!

Should the price of your artwork(product) be the same, from gallery to gallery?

I'm just beginning and have been invited to two different consignment galleries. I went to one gallery and we came to a reasonable agreement on retail prices. Afterwards, I then when to the other gallery and they suggested that I lower the retail prices.

Is having different retail prices, from business to business(galleries) a Good thing? What should I do?

The landlords don't fix all the problems within 30 days. I know they are not going to be able to. They have 19 buildings and too many issues.

If the buildings are closed and the tenants are kicked out, do I get my damage deposit returned? And if it's closed, do I get a warning, is it immediate, or was the police notice the only warning?

Finally, what do I do if I have to move but have no where to move to? I don't know anyone's place I can stay and I don't have the money for a deposit on a new place. Plus, I have to have somewhere to go because I have a child.

Also, I can't get emergency assistance from the county to help because I have already had them help within the last 90days.

Please...any suggestions or experience welcome

I have helped quite a bit of users here on business planning, some financial stuff and business in general, but what comes to mind is how much time and energy people actually put into planning?

Do you feel that if you should plan better you are more likely to succeed?

I just graduated from high school and I thought I'd give myself freshman year in college to stay at home and then move out sometime next spring or summer. I need to know about budgets, credit cards, saving money in college, finding a good place with good rent- just everything I need to know because I feel as if I am going into this whole thing blindly.

Bought a new car in Nevada. I live in California. Was told by dealer that the new law which allows for the sales tax to be calculated based on taxable sales price minus the trade in allowance multiplied by 7.75%would apply to California due to a reciprocal agreement. In my situation taxable sales price was 29,500 with trade in being 20,290. That would put my sales tax at 718.00 based on the new taxable amount of a little more than 9,000. California is saying that I must pay tax based on total taxable sales price. No trade in allowance. This is after the dealer in Nevada said that the new law would apply in Cali due to reciprocity. Cannot register auto until this is resolved. Refuse to pay over 1,600 more in sales tax when Nevada stated that I should just be liable for the difference between the two tax rates-8.25(CA) and 7.75(NV). Apprx 46.00 owed in difference.
