If you have no experience, look for a franchise. Opening any business is very hard work and to have a successful restaurant is even harder. If you have the money, a franchise will give you the help you need. A good restaurant franchise will probably cost upwards of $250,000 (very low estimate from my experiences).

I'll venture a guess here and assume you know what the on hands work of a restaurant business includes. And you just need input on the business end.
First you need to create a business plan, there will be some guessing while doing it because your in the very early stages. But as you go you will fill in the blanks & revise your plan as you do your research. Your biz plan will end up being a large 'book report'.
Start your business plan with the structure of the business. When i say structure I don't mean the building I mean are you going to incorporate? are you going to have partners? is it going to be a family owned or a sole proprietor? When you decide there will be another variety of questions, such as who's going to do what? what the financial structure will be? Then you need to decide if your going to buy or lease a location?, are you going to serve beer, cuz you will need a liqour licsence etc.
Its actually a very indepth process, but if your really serious about it feel free to contact me I can help you step by step.

Hi there!
I suggest that you spend some quality time learning the ropes of managing a restaurant business.
Try and contact as many quality restaurants in your city / town and try and get to speak with the owner. Tell him that you are very interested in this industry and would someday like to start your own restaurant. Also tell him that you are in awe of his business and would love to learn the ropes from him and take him as a mentor. Ask him if he would let you work in any capacity in different roles in his business so that you can get a good grasp of things. Now there will be many who may reject this idea up front, but there will be a few who will not only agree to help you but will be glad to do so...
Also, read as many books as you can about starting / managing a business. Hone your leadership skills as you will be soon managing and leading your own employees. Attend as many seminars and training courses that you can. It will all help you in the end.
Then of course, start planning. Create a business plan. Chalk out details like your marketing strategies, financial plans, operating plans and the like. Start looking into requirements for obtaining loans, if required. The location, staff, equipment, etc. Your interaction with different mentors will help you in the right direction.
All the very best for your venture.
Regards,
Namz

First, get a job in a restaurant so you know how they work. Then you can think about possibly franchising or opening an independent restaurant after you learn the ropes.

With no experience, buy an existing one and pay the owner to hang around for a few months until you're up to speed.
