The amount will be part of the closing documents and as such will be public records. Generally the local paper will carry realeatate transactions that closed the week prior. You can do a search there. If that doesn't go to the tax or treasures office to find out.PP

If you live in CA you can check at the county recorders office. Keep in mind if the property was resold for cash or gift county recorders would not have a record for the the sale price, but they might have a record for the Deed for rights of possession.

Your absolute most accurate bet is to go to the county recorders office. Title companies records on their websites aren't always as up to date as they could/should be ... same with the city's website.

Many assessor's offices are online: check for the county assessor's office on your favorite search engine.
Websites like www.zillow.com sometimes also have this inf.
