Start now by gathering all resources such as phone numbers, business cards, colors, shapes, textues etc. and write down all goals and plans you may have. Don't worry about organizational planning, but put all your goals, thoughts, and plans in a special notebook and a collection box. There are days you may come up with an ideal inspiration that you may encounter.
One day you will go back and start organizing, putting the pieces of the puzzle together.
You did say in the future?
You want to be unique maby?

Do you know what you are going to sell?
Look at your target market, can your item sustain growth, is your item unique? if not what can you offer that the competition is not offering or overlooking.
I would suggest you write a Business Plan, this will help make you aware of some surprises, and answer most of your questions, if you fail on paper it's not going to cost you as much and the more prepared you are the better off you will be.
Start there and maybe I'll see you at the Magic Show ( Las Vegas) premiere place for designers to show off their goods to the retail industry.
