My friend and i are planning on setting up a chinese take out restaurant. We really do not have money to pay a consultant to do this for us. We will appreciate any information and advise. We need advise on the business generally how best to go about it, utensils to use and menus.

We signed off our apartment a day early because it was clean, empty and ready to go. The property manager came and signed off on the final inspection and told us we were getting out full deposit back. This was around noon, at 8am the next day my boyfriend called and told him that I had left my watch and some make up in one of the bathroom drawers.

He said that he had thrown it out! My boyfriend asked him about the watch (my mother gave it to me and it wasnt cheap but it was more sentimental than anything) and he said "nope there wasn't a watch but I threw out the other junk." I know I should have double and triple checked all of the drawers, and I did execpt the bathroom. The tenancy wasnt even supposed to end until 1pm that day!
My question is should he have thrown my stuff out so quickly? It obviously wasnt junk I had some brand new still in the packaging cosmetics in that drawer! My watch was clearly not junk unless gold and silver are considered junk now?

Ok, someone I know is considering moving from Europe to the US, but is concerned after reading about the long hours some (most) Americans work.
So, question: Software engineer, Oracle & Java, programming, testing, etc...
Average # work hours for those with similar positions? Salary or hourly (w/overtime)?
Thanks!!

I'm a consultant working with a sole practitioner on a potential EMR solution. I would like to keep costs below $25,000 dollars but the doctor that I'm working feels the costs are too high. I would like to illustrate the value of such a system by showing her that the system's benefits far outweigh the costs of the new system. I have searched the Internet and have not been able to find a study which shows the costs. The doctor that I currently work with practices Internal Medicine.

A colleague at the same level as I always feels threatened by my actions and repeatedly picks quarrels, bangs the phone on me and says that I’m always trying to please the Management. I sincerely don't do this and I know that my conscience is clear. How should one deal with this situation? It gets very frustrating and difficult to do work as every action is interpreted as trying to go one up against my colleague.

I started a new job and after 3 days I realized that the owner of this business wasn't somebody who I wanted to be associated with...at all. So I quit.

I talked with the guy about getting paid for the 3 days I worked and he tried to tell me I only worked 2 days. Because of this, and several other reasons, I think that he is going to try to rip me off somehow when I get paid on the 15th of June. If he pays me for the 3 days I worked I should be getting $400, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he tries to write me a check for $300 or so and say the rest went to taxes (but not report it or send it in to the government).

So my question is: Is there a law that states that an employer can't start taking out money for taxes until the employee makes a certain amount? I remember hearing something about this, but I'm not sure if it is true. What I heard was that employers can't start taking taxes out until the employee makes his first $500 with the company. Is this true? Resources?

Thanks!

Q-Following is the body of a collection letter. Point out which letter is this in the series? Give a sound reason for your findings. (05)
“Consequently, unless we receive payment in full by the end of the business day, August 30, 2007, we will have to take the unpleasant step of turning your account over to a professional collection agency. We would rather not be forced do this since it will result in damage to your personal credit rating.”

We have been getting calls for someone we do not know...apparently she had the phone number before we did. We have told the compnay repeatedly that the person they are asking for does not live here and explain that we have only had the phone number for a couple of months. We have also asked them, repeatedly, to stop calling. As they call from several telephone numbers and ones that are unavailable we cannot block all of their calls...too many different numbers. They refuse to give us the name of the company they are calling for bur want our personal information so they can update their files. As it is not our bill they are calling about there is nothing to update. We have spoken to the phone company and they have indicated that blocking the calls will probably not work. We just changed out phone number a couple of months ago (annoying calls) and do not want to do it again. We have told the callers that we will contact the police. How can we get the calls to stop?
