From the day you apply it will take about 3 weeks. Plus they have whats called a waiting week. So don't expect your first check to be for 2wks pay. It will be for 1wk pay and then after that you will get 2wks pay every check. Do the direct deposit into tour checking account if you have one. That way you order your check on Mon. and its deposited by Wed. if you wait for it in postal mail in usually is there on Friday. They pay you about maybe 40% of what your used to making but they do have a MAXIMUN!! EXAMPLE: I was bringing home approx. $2.000 monthly after taxes/ins. From UNEMP I get $1216.00 per month. HUGE DIFFERENCE!! from what I was used too.
I cerainly dont want to sound negative but unless who already have money put away that you can afford to collect unemployment go for it!! Other wise try to find a new job that pays you similar to what you were making unless you can give up things.

The question we must ask how far do you travel to work ? If they employed you knowing you lived 70 or more miles away with no rail or bus services I think you could get a claim for unfair dismissal ...Ask where you stand at the CAB and how often has your car failed you and length of service with the firm will all colour the outcome if under a year service just accept it..they were going to get rid one way or another,as there policy
