Does it offer job availability/stability?

I always hear about corporate america workers getting laid off, but at the same time all the people I know who don't live paycheck too paycheck are practically people who work in corporate america...it really confuses me!

It's always good to have a degree. And a business degree is well rounded. However, a degree is no guarantee against a layoff or living paycheck to paycheck.

Your best bet is to work hard, have a great attitude, be a good team player, willing to put in extra hours when needed, and ask to be trained for a promotion. Those are the things that protect people from being laid off. Plus, live within your means.

A Business degree is definatly a good degree. There are a lot of different fields that look for business degrees. You will always run the risk of layoffs we all do. The key to avoiding it or minimizing your risk is to focus on employers that don't have huge parent companies with headqurters in another state. You want to focus on the private industry, there is much more flexability and they are not limited to the constraints of a structured set in stone method of operating. If you prove yourself the private industry is more likely to reward you because they can. And if your really interested in the big corporate american job, then build your resume in private industry first, and then enter 'corporate america' on a higher leval and therfore less likely to face a layoff.

Yes, absolutely it is a great degree to have. And don't believe all the hype about layoffs, if you work hard companies won't have any reason to lay you off. But most importantly, get a degree in something you enjoy. Money is not the end-all...

With a business degree, you can work in almost any field. I know for a fact, record companies prefer a business degree for all their A&R (Artists & Repetoire) reps. (Those are the people who sign people to labels, can make big bucks - can also be on the street if you have several artists who tank.)
