I am an aspiring actress and I am making 5 minute videos to show off my characters and my talent. I want to play different people for example; different races, different accents basically different type of people. I have some ideas in mind but I need more.

For example;
I am playing a model,
a poor person,
a boy,
a crazy person etc.

I really need serious answers.
I enjoy acting I think is a wonderful kind of art for someone to express themselves.
Give me more ideas of what type of roles to play.
and if you want you can name them.

My 12 year old daughter just discovered community theatre last year and loves it. She's in her third production right now. Over the summer, she's taking some classes at a school for performing arts near our city. One of the classes is a backstage make-up and hair class. It's only a one-day class, but it's for kids ages 10-14. The class description says the kids should bring a make-up kit. What kind of make-up kit are they talking about and where would I get one? I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a make-up kit for a 12 year old, so I'd really appreciate some insight into what I need before I go out searching for one. Thank you!

Will there be odds against my dream of becoming an actor because I'm deaf?

I work at a hospital and my group wants to dress up like the wizard of oz. Everyone has found costumes that look similar to the real characters. I have found nothing but ugly ones for the cowardly lion. I would like to have one similar to the one in the movie butI cannot find one. Can someone point me in the right direction.

in speech class for summer school, we have to lip sync. our group is stumped. does anyone have any ideas for a song that we could do? we also get extra credit for props and costumes, so if you have an idea that could go with a song, that would be great! also it kinda has to be an appropiate song, cuz its summer school. thanks!

Do you think it's okay if I memorize the opening monologue in Annie Hall to perform at an open casting call. Here's the thing though ... I'm not a man, nor am I 40, or slightly balding like Woody Allen states during the monologue. Do you think I should do something more age approprate? I've been searching for monologues all night long and haven't found a single one that I feel is worth memorizing.
I'm 20 years old, female, and looking to do a really funny monologue for my audition. I have no acting experience what-so-ever. Comedy is my style.

First of all, the first year I tried out, I didn't make it...but I messed up HORRIBLY in the song. The second year I made a townsperson and next october are the auditions for Once On This Island Jr. I really want to make a major role, and for some reason I feel like I sing really good when I sing to myself and my friends, but even when I videotaped a performance for the teacher who is also in lead of the managing the play I felt shakey and didn't do as good, so what should I do?? If you could give me some background on the play that would be nice thanks =]

I'm looking to go to school to major in theatre/acting with the goal of pursuing an acting career. Do agents/casting directors tend to favor actors with formal training over those who do not in most cases? If so, where is the best place to receive this formal training in the United States? Thanks in advance!

Marianne D, top contributor asked me to talk a little about scams to enlighten some of you young actors and to put you on the alert.

I've already written about them so I will send you a link below. They are two scams that I almost became a victim of if I hadn't followed my instincts. You really have to be careful out there. It's important to find people like Marianne (at least what I know of her from her comments on yahoo answers), who have an interest in keeping acting pure.

I believe that acting is one of the greatest professions in the world and we should do what we can to protect it.
I don't want to preach. So here is the link:

Hi my friend and i are going to compete in districts and can't find a good song for just the two of us. We're both girls and our vocal range is alto. We perferably don't want to do anything from an overdone musical but are looking for suggestions.
Duet Musical Theatre Rules: The musical theatre selection must come from a musical theatre production which has been written and produced for the musical theatre stage.
No medleys or screenplays are allowed. Each selection may contain dialogue and each participant must be actively involved in the musical selection.
The performer MUST use non-vocal musical accompaniment which can be live or taped unless expressly written to be performed without musical accompaniment. and CAN'T exceed 5 min.

if you have any suggestions please respond THANX TO ALL.
