I'm sure you have read some of my answers and I usually don't like to repeat myself as much as possible, so in addition to what I have said before......
Even though Kids Talent Network helps you to get with an agency, they also provide you with auditions and work as an agency would without taking commission. I don't understand why people say an agency is better when they take a percentage of every job and KTN gets 165 a year no matter how many jobs they help you to get. That is not that much money.
If that were too much than you would have a difficult time. As others have mentioned before, there are other costs associated with acting and modeling (travel, clothing, etc.).
If your parents do not want to pay the fee, who is going to take you to auditions and when getting work who is going to take you there.
You need a lot of parents support. I am fortunate in that I do not work and I am available. There is a lot of time involved in going to auditions.
If it weren't for Kids Talent Network, he would have gone no where as agencies in LA will not represent children in Las Vegas and there is not much work in Las Vegas. I don't know where you live and how this affects you, but having an agency in LA for us will only be possible through KTN.

Hello,
I recently (less than 30 days ago) enrolled my child with KTN and hope it is worth the 500 dollars.I haven't received any offers yet. However, I saw Christina Carrera, a child actor on a talent agency website (Explore Talent) that says she has just been signed to do a movie (principle role). KTN also has her listed as a KTN kid although they haven't added this latest accomplishment to their news section. I recognized her photo that I saw earlier on the KTN website. If you go on www.Exploretalent.com you can email Christina Carrera. Maybe you can ask her or her parents about their feelings about KTN. I'll be happy to keep you informed of my experiences with them also.

I don't blame your parents. KTN is a middle man for something you can do on your own. From what I can tell, they are neither agents or managers, they try to get you one and you can do that on your own. While it may not be a scam per se, you don't need them to get an agent and as a new actor, you don't need a manager.
If you want to find a legitimate agent to represent you for commercials, TV & film go to Sag.org. Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions. You can look up agents all over the US, but there are higher concentrations where the work is (Los Angeles, NY, IL, FL, GA etc.)
Then you can send them your headshot, resume, and a cover letter stating that you are seeking representation and wait to see if they call you in for an interview.
Once you have an agent, they will get you the auditions, but until then you can check out actorsaccess.com. You can also see if your state has a film alliance. Sometimes they post audition information for projects filming locally. For theatre, you can go to backstage.com or http://www.actorsequity.org/castingcall/... If you find the audition on the Equity site, you still may be able to go, as long as their not taking appointments from equity actor's only :-) On backstage.com you have to pay to get all of the info, but the initial search is free and you may be able to see enough info to find out the rest on your own without paying
Good luck!
