Local and regional theatres are your best bet right now. Check out backstage.com to see if there are any auditions in your area. If you live in a very small or rural area, ask at your local library where the nearest theatres are. I'm sure someone would be more than happy to help you find out.

Even small theatres have websites these days, once you find them get on their mailing lists so you'll be notified when auditions come up. Take classes if you can, if not practice on your own at home. Most auditions require singing 16 bars of a song and some dancing if you pass the singing audition. Take as many classes as you can. If you get into a production, it's free on the job training!

You can also check with the Texas Motion Picture Alliance (link below). They may have information from time to time on what productions are filming where and whether or not they have need for locals to be in their projects!

Good luck!!!

Look for local theatres to audition for. You will get in some and not in others. If the judges say you didn't get in because of this, make note of that for later so you have a better chance of getting a part next time. Break a Leg!

Do you have any community theater groups in your area? Most colleges have plays you can participate in during the summer for High School students. Call the closest college near you and ask for the theater dept. Ask them if they know of any open tryouts in your area.
