I need advice as to how to approach a script! How can I look at a script and see potential... rather than confusing words?

Do you like the commercials at the beginning of the previews in the movie theaters? Why or why not? Do you think it takes away from your movie theater experience? What would you like to see to take place of commercials, if anything, that would bring back or enhance your movie experience?

I read an earlier question about voice acting, but it only mentioned California and the UK. How about the East Coast of the US?

i have taken a summer acting program.. nothing big, but i love it. i love watching people act on stage when they are really passionate about it and love it. it all seems so easy in my head, like i could just get up there and do it. but when i do get up there, my face gets red, i worry about how im saying it, if im loud enough, if im being over dramatic or not dramatic enough... what can i do to help this?

I'm going to audition for a a musical comedy called Little Shop of Horrors. The auditions requires that I prepare 16 bars of 2 contrasting songs of the musical theatre style. Wich songs should I choose. I'm not sure exactly what it means to be musical 'theatre style', I've never auditioned before. Help me please.

Calling all you musical theatre fans!

From "Show Boat", the genesis of the American musical, to "Wicked" today, everyone has their own idea of what is the quintessential American musical.

(and despite "Contact", a musical is any show in which the score of the show is used to advance or illuminate the plot.)

For me, it is a toss-up between "Guys & Dolls" and "Gypsy."

So...the question is thus:

From Kern who invented it
To Rodgers & Hammerstein who perfected it
From Cole Porter who gave wit to it
To Moose Charlap, who got lit to it.
From Bernstein who contributed his sense of mod urbanity
To Sondheim's minor thirds which make you question your humanity.
From dear Jerry Herman whose works glorify it,
To mensch Sheldon Harnick whose shows "oy-ify" it!
From Lerner, to Loesser, to Schwartz, and to Strouse
What American musical's tops in your house?
